薩克森集團招募了一群被淘汰的機器人，給予他們最後一次追求利潤與榮耀（還能避免被拆成零件）的機會。他們就是新亞特拉斯危機小隊，這支由散兵遊勇組成的除害小隊奉命調查席捲整個星球的真菌災難背後的真相。
完成一連串驚險的地面任務，擊退真菌災厄。這真的如薩克森集團所說，只是普通的自然災害嗎？薩克森集團是否真的搞錯了你的稅務文件？抑或……其實是你自己報錯了？
大殺四方選擇各式誇張的未來武器（還有電動工具），透過獨特的網格升級系統加以強化，打造你夢寐以求的科幻超級武器！
打破常規擊殺成群結隊的敵人，後者已經腐化星球的科技，將其轉換為致命武器。你可以一個一個解決落單目標，但要小心，因為敵人掉落的戰利品可能會被其他敵人撿走！
掠奪，射擊，重頭再來每次任務都會提供新模組，助你升級全身裝備。混合，搭配，堆疊——升級多多益善。將破爛的機器人和武器改造成精密的死亡機器（或是可怕的工程實驗失敗品，全由你決定）。你可以專精於治療支援，把偏轉護盾裝在電鋸上，或乾脆把自己變成人肉炸彈（我們一點都不在乎）。
