Updated on September 2nd:

Version 1.7

*Improved detection and automatic repair of bad hair.

*Make sure to add the mod that provides the necessary RACE records as the master.

  • If the archive does not exist when patching, it will no longer throw an error, but instead throw a message stating the fact.

*Remove clothing when facegen to reduce the amount of data the Creation Kit needs to process.

*Add separate npcscloth.txt bat file specifically for testing NPCs with cloth data.

Version 1.6

*Now create a npcs.txt batch file that will allow you to place all NPCs you generate facegens for.

*Creation Kit progress and estimated time remaining are now displayed.

*BA2 archives are now automatically patched to version 1 for maximum compatibility.

*Texture archiving process now starts after FixFacegen is started. This helps the autorun part not fail in certain situations.

*Add hardcoded exceptions to the slNPCExceptions list to be skipped. This sometimes results in inaccurate face counts for NPCs.

*Fixed bug where NPCs could be duplicated in the list, so it would look for the same file multiple times.

*Fixed a bug that could prevent Creation Kit from detecting it had exited.

Version 1.5

  • powershell now waits until Creation Kit makes the first listed facegen nif file before querying the process. This should prevent issues for those using Steam to mess with command line arguments.
  • "Fix Face Texture" option has been replaced with "Fix Face Texture Mode". Use Fix Face Textures Mode to automatically fix your face textures and prevent Rusty Face errors. This will create a VEFS Face Textures.zip file to install with your mod manager, and even if you install mismatched textures, whether they are loose or archived (preferred), the file will have the textures in the correct format. Special Note: If you do not have face textures installed with loose files, the textures will be archived. If a single loose face texture file is installed, this file will be loose.
  • Now prevents you from naming the output plugin FaceGenPatch or VEFS Face, as these are special reserved names for VEFS.
  • If the Creation Kit fails to create a facegen nif, the corresponding xEdit FixFaceGen patch will mention it, but will not end up failing outright.

Version 1.4

  • Bad hair should now be repaired automatically.
  • Disappearing NPCs should now be fixed automatically.
  • NPCs with "infinite hair" should now be automatically fixed.
  • Removed the Elric option as now we automatically fix bad facegen meshes so there is no reason to use it.
  • Added "Fix Face Textures" option to automatically compress all face textures into specially formatted BA2 to fix any mismatched texture formats/sizes for use by Creation Kit. This option only works if all face textures are in the archive... Loose file face textures are not currently supported. For users with loose files, a fix may be available in the future. This automatically fixes the so-called "Rusty Face" bug with NPCs using facegen.

Version 1.3

Rule added. Rules allow you to set options for specific NPCs or plugins.

Added option to set custom output plugin name.

Added option to run Elric or not.

Automatically fix Creation Kit crash for some NPCs due to inventory items used for facegen spawning.

I may have forgotten something. I have a pain in my head. Feel like I need to regenerate my face.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
