Overview

F4SE plug-in implements full support for DLSS 4 and FSR 3.1 upscaling of all game versions. DLAA support for ENB.

Donations welcome. This took more work than I expected.

Upscaling uses advanced algorithms to reconstruct low resolution to native resolution, improving image quality and performance.

AMD's Powerful Contrast Adaptive Sharpening improves image clarity even when magnification is turned off or in the 3D menu.

When using ENB, only DLAA is supported.

Includes modifications to screen space reflections to improve their quality.

The default settings can improve performance by at least 15%.

To maintain clarity, the pipboy menu and 3D interface automatically disable magnification. This slightly increases video memory usage as it has to support rendering the game at two different resolutions.

Module configuration menu

An MCM settings menu is provided for adjusting in-game upscaling and provides useful information:

Compare

Compared to the Fallout 4 upconverter, this mod has the following improvements:

  • Fixed all dynamic resolution bugs, including improving screen space reflections.
  • Supports all game versions.
  • Completely open source code to help future graphics module development.
  • Native DX11 FSR 3.1, including native anti-aliasing options.
  • Latest DLSS 4 model (Preset K).
  • High quality reactive visor for fixed scope.
  • Frame generation compatibility.
  • Fixed DLSS ghosting.
  • Fixed motion vectors completely wrong.
  • Fixed jitter that contributes to reconstruction.
  • Fixed texture sharpness (mip bias) not working properly.

OPTISCALER

You can use the Optiscaler to add support for FSR 4 and XeSS when using the DLSS upscaling method preference. This will also unlock the use of FSR 3.1 native anti-aliasing when using ENB.

When using Optiscaler, download the latest version and extract it to the root directory and place it next to Fallout4.exe. Then, run the installation file to install the module, dxgi.dll.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
