Stuck LOD fix

Fixed an issue where terrain LOD got stuck after changing world space

What this module does

Fallout 4 sometimes fails to uninstall the LOD of the previous world space, causing the old object LOD to still be visible after entering other areas.

Stuck LOD fixes will detect this world space change and trigger a normal LOD reset of the engine, ensuring the old object's LOD is uninstalled correctly.

Special thanks

DoubleYou and Glitchfinder helped me understand and reproduce this bug!

Function

Fixed stuck LODs: preventing LODs from the previous world space from remaining visible after changing regions.

Reset normally using game

After a fix, when Fallout incorrectly skipped the engine's uninstall function, the fix simply triggered the engine's existing uninstall function.

Lightweight engine-level fix: no scripts, ESP files or game assets.

No configuration or activation required.

Install

Use your preferred mod manager to install the version that matches your Fallout 4 runtime.

Fallout 4 1.10.163 (original)

Fallout 4 1.11.221 (AE)

compatibility

Compatible with other LOD and world space mods.

This mod does not modify any world space, terrain, object or tree records.

uninstall

The mod can be disabled or uninstalled at any time via your mod manager.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
