Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE):
OG (1.10.163) supported
The plugin supports previous-gen versions of Fallout 4 (1.10.163), as well as AE/NG support. The game automatically loads the save file when it starts, skipping the main menu entirely. I (original author MuteBustNut, the same below) ported this mod over because I need to constantly load saves to test changes.
feature
Automatically load your most recent save on startup
Filter by archive type: quick archive, automatic archive, manual archive or exit archive
Filter by character name
Load specific archive by name
Load the oldest or latest matching archive
Hold down SHIFT (configurable key) during startup to skip autoloading
If there is no save, you can choose to restart the game
Optionally, you can choose to suppress missing content warnings
All settings can be configured through Data/F4SE/Plugins/po3_StartOnSave.ini, which are automatically generated on first startup.
If you encounter any issues (CTD), please submit your crash log so I have a better chance of investigating.
Notice:
If you have a large number of save files, the game may take extra time to load in the main menu before autoloading is triggered. This mod will wait for the game save manager to complete background work before queuing to load, so there will be a delay in the main menu. You can check it in Settings -> Audio. If the audio is grayed out and has a loading symbol, the game is still loading.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
