How to use

It just works...

If you want to adjust the feel, you can edit SmoothHeadtracking.ini in Data\F4SE\Plugins.

Function

smooth tracking

Abandonment Threshold - When the camera is turned far enough away, your character gives up looking and will quickly return to neutral instead of imitating an owl. Configurable angle.

Trunk Assist – When the head reaches maximum rotation, the upper spine absorbs some of the remaining rotation, making the whole body look more natural.

INI - Smoothness (0-100), pitch angle, head/torso yaw range and pitch up and down range.

Install

Install the F4SE plug-in and address library and confirm that they are loaded correctly.

Install Smooth Headtracking using your favorite mod manager (Vortex/MO2).

Start the game. That’s it, I won’t do MCM for the time being.

Basically compatible with all games I haven't tried yet.

There are a few points to note:

Player commentary and head tracking work together, but can look a bit strange in some situations.

Idle animations and heavy head movements that visually conflict with tracking because both are trying to control the same bone at the same time.

Smooth head tracking is hooked into the player character update loop, reading the camera's rotation directly, so it works in any third-person camera state without relying on scripts.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
