What it does:
This F4SE plugin will change the way AP consumption is calculated at the engine level. Typically, sprint costs are always roughly the same and the difference is negligible. The only special mechanic that exists is that you run faster with your weapon holster. It's boring, you have 0 reason to consider how much armor you have equipped, how much you're carrying, how long you've been sprinting, etc.
So, what exactly does this plug-in do? Well, it provides a lot of configuration for how AP is depleted during sprints. Your AP consumption will now be affected by how much weight you're carrying, how much you're equipped, whether your weapons are depleted, how much health you have, whether you're in combat or not, and even how much AP you have left. Using the default values, you can expect the distance traveled by your sprint to drop significantly if you're injured and carrying weight. It is now also inefficient to sprint before letting AP fully recover, as fAPDrainScalar now linearly increases AP cost as AP decreases
This does not change the movement speed itself. Modifying SpeedMult is very confusing and gives the impression of gliding across the ground, which feels weird during gameplay, especially in third-person perspective. So all it changes is how far you can sprint. Maybe in the future this will be a feature, but for now it's all AP cost and that's enough in my opinion
Configuration .ini file:
The plugin has an .ini file with a number of settings that allow you to configure how the plugin works and what affects AP consumption:
[Configs]
bEnablePlugin=true
bEnableLogging=false
fPenaltyCarryWeight=0.5
fMaxCarryWeightAPDrainMult=1.8
fAPDrainScalar=2.0
fEquippedWeightMult=0.8
fHolsteredWeapjavascript-event-stripped0.9
fHealthScalar=1.4
bEnabledHealthScalarCombatOverride=true
fHealthScalarCombatOverride=1.15
fOutOfCombatAPDrainMult=1.0
Documentation for each value is provided in the fCombatAPDrainMult=1.0.ini file
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
