Original address:

Updated on August 10, 2026:

Version 1.09

Fixed an incorrect comment in the HeadAutoFire.hkx file regarding robots using Mr. Handy Thrusters, which could cause a crash.

Version 1.08

A new animation event has been added to allow the robot's head to animate based on the robot entering and exiting combat stances.

Removed files that restricted head tracking.

Updated on November 7th:

Version 1.07

Fixed an incorrect file path bug that would prevent automata using Sentinel Bots, Mechanical Brains, or Armored Core Tank Legs from using behavior changes.

Updated on October 12th:

Version 1.06

Fixed an issue where certain handheld weapons on Sentinel Droids and Mechanical Brains would not unsheath correctly at the end of combat.

Added optional animation for shoulder units to be drawn/sheathed in a similar manner to arms.

Updated on July 12th:

Version 1.05

The firing animation for single-shot hand weapons has been standardized to approximately 0.167 seconds (originally it was approximately 0.33 seconds, except for protectors which had 0.67 seconds). This may result in triggering every 0.167 seconds.

Bots are more reliable when firing certain burst weapons (such as the BML-G2-P03MLT-06 and SONGBIRDS) and will fire the entire burst/volley instead of stopping midway.

Simple edits to some behavior files to allow Raiders and Protectors to enjoy the swivel animation when firing automatic weapons with them (poor Mr. Handy is hung again). I've also added this to the automatic shoulder weapons, but that has its own unique requirements that more advanced modders will understand. Since the original Fallout 4 didn't have any, this won't be an issue. If you have these mods, I've provided the required nifs for the Combatron Shoulder minigun and ~~Armored Automatron~~ (the latest version of Armored Core Automatron already makes these work), otherwise they won't fire.

Version 1.02 and above adds animation support for single-shot shoulder weapons (Mr Handys cannot fire shoulder weapons) without messing up existing single-shot shoulder weapons.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
