Major inventory changes like FallUI - Inventory and the official classification framework FIS - the new FallUI item sorter have greatly improved the item organization experience in Fallout 4.
FallUI modernizes the Pip-Boy and container interfaces with a better layout, more information, and many quality-of-life features designed for PC users.
FIS adds icons, categories, subtitles and configurable item tags to the system to make the inventory easier to read and organize.
However, even these powerful systems rely on one key requirement:
Items must be correctly labeled and classified in order for the classification system to correctly identify them.
Maintaining these tags in a huge mod list can quickly become tedious.
Whenever a new mod adds weapons, food, or other items, sorting patches usually need to be regenerated.
This is where this mod comes in handy.
RobCo's dynamic item classifier automatically analyzes items and assigns the correct classification label based on configurable rules.

Afterwards, your backpack sorting will still work automatically even if new mods add items.
Working principle
Traditionally, sorting and labeling items in Fallout 4 required using
Tools such as M8r98a4f2's Complex Item Classifier generate static patches.
While this method is very effective, it requires the user to manually generate patches via xEdit.
Whenever a new mod adds items, the patch usually needs to be run again to ensure the new objects get the correct sorting tags.
The RobCo dynamic item classifier takes a different approach.
system
Instead of generating static patches, items are dynamically evaluated at runtime and rules are applied directly to game data.
Items can be categorized, renamed and automatically organized without having to re-patch.
The system is based on configurable tag sets, rule sets, and INNR layouts.
These rules determine how items are labeled, grouped, and displayed in the inventory.
The patcher can:
Create new INNR layout
Rebuild or reorganize existing INNR records
Dynamically add or remove rules
Apply reusable templates
Allow multiple mods to safely modify the same INNR
Supports fully customizable tag sets and taxonomies
Since everything is handled dynamically, items added by the module are automatically analyzed and classified, eliminating the need to manually generate patches.
Multiple mods can safely extend or modify the same INNR layout without causing compatibility conflicts.
The mod also contains a
The FallUI + FIS sorting ecosystem is designed with ready-made presets that enable the system to serve as a dynamic alternative to traditional sorting patchers.
After installing the mod once, your backpack sorting will automatically adapt to your mod list. …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
