[Just in case, I added a changelog in the posts section]
I recently downloaded the original mod and immediately fell in love with the sound of it. However, I encountered a bug in the third-person perspective: the weapon's rate of fire changes based on the character's movements - the rate of fire increases when aiming and decreases when crouching. It turns out that the game (at least to me) actually behaves this way, and the original sound effects do a good job of masking this behavior.
In the original Fallout 4, automatic fire was accompanied by a repetitive looping sound effect. In contrast, ReeseSFX's mod extends the weapon sound system so that each bullet can be generated and processed independently. I can't find any other way to solve the third-person perspective problem except to repackage the original sound into a loop similar to the original.
The rate of fire sounds stable, and while it will sacrifice some of the quality of the original mod, I'm releasing this mod with the author's permission for reference by players who may encounter similar issues. If you don't play third-person with automatic weapons, I recommend playing the original version because each bullet is randomly generated. Imagine this - in the original, some weapons only had a single firing sound!
I tried to preserve the variety of the original as much as possible, making each shot as different as possible within the constraints of the original's file structure. Now this replacer just overrides ReeseSFX
Recommended modules: Reverb and Ambiance Overhaul
Persistent Volume Sliders
(I really hope this text reads okay. My English is not very good and I have to say a few nice words to ChatGPT because he always wants to sneak in all kinds of random content, haha)
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
