About this mod Machine translation

★About★

Take back control of your inventory!

This F4SE plugin allows you to rename any item directly from your Pip-Boy, including weapons, clothing, holotapes, notes, keys, and miscellaneous items.

The vanilla 26 character limit on project names has also been removed, so you can name your project as long (or short) as you like.

Additionally, the plugin restores the ability to use formatting tags (e.g. bold, italics, underline) in project names, which was disabled in tags v1.3.

New features in v2.0:

The mod now adds a new console command that allows you to rename any reference in the world, including people, containers, furniture, and doors! The renaming process is safe - the base name is never overwritten. The name can be restored to the default value at any time.

★Usage★

Restart your inventory

In the inventory, press X to open the Inspection menu, then press T to access the new Rename option.

If Rename is grayed out, you forgot to launch the game with F4SE.

Items renamed in the world

  • Press the tilde key (~) to open the console.
  • Click the object you want to rename.
  • Type: setname "<new name here>"

Restore original name

Do the same as above but leave the name blank: setname

notes

Some names are actively overwritten by the game (e.g. characters who change their names during missions).

If so, you will be informed that RenameAnything did not change its name. If you want to change its name, enter setname without any arguments to remove the override, then set its name as usual.

★Requirements★

Fallout 4 v1.10.26 or higher.

F4SE v0.3.0 or higher.

★Installation★

Install using your preferred mod manager, or copy the files from the download to the Fallout 4 Data folder.

This is a F4SE plugin. No ESP!

No script is attached to the object and can be removed at any time.

Your named items do not depend on this plugin.

★Compatibility★

Replaces ExamineMenu.swf.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
