Current: V1.3.6 Fixed core selection bug, fixed special attribute doubling, supports Eli's pack (slot 58). See changelog.
NOTE: To accurately handle the weight of the backpack, select Realism set to Auto (if on Survival) or "Remove Armor but keep buffs".
This will remove the outer armor/backpack at the PA entrance (but keep the buff), as this is the only accurate way a mod can detect the Carryweight Buff.
This mod is compatible with all versions of FO4 (NG, Unpatched, VR, etc.)
FusionCore and Jetpack APs can be
Changes Your clothing/armor's resistances and buffs remain unchanged while in Power Armor.

Summarize:
By default, when you enter PowerArmor, the game removes all of your clothing buffs as if you were naked, even if the animation shows you entering fully clothed. This mod will attempt to restore most of the lost buffs while you are in PowerArmor. No more "commandos"!
You can make a setup Holotape on Chemistry Bench to change the functionality to your liking, or use MCM.
Feature details (can be disabled individually):
Preserve armor buff -
Holotape Settings: Outfits Perks: Buffs and Specials/Buffs Only/None
MCM Setup: In PowerArmor
Armor buffs retained in What it does: When you enter PA, all resistances, damage effects and most legendary buffs provided by your armor are restored, as well as special buffs.
NOTE: Non-buffs such as Chameleon, Jetpack, Night Vision, etc. will not be restored as they are not buffs but effects.
Also, for this to work, the mod must see your stats before and after the PA entry. This is: core insert and PA inlet, or PA outlet and PA inlet. This will work seamlessly if you enable Auto Core eject (default), otherwise you will need to exit and re-enter PA to get the effect. Your choice.
Realism (PA takes off clothes during entrance) -
Holotape settings: Remove armor on PA entries: Auto/Headgear only/Always/Headgear only/Always but keep buffs/Never
MCM Settings: Realism (outer armor removed when entering PA)
What it does: For realism, when you enter PowerArmor, your headgear (if you're playing in Survival mode, or have the Strong Back Perk, your outer armor is also removed). and re-equip on exit. After all, there's no way it would fit inside that restricted PowerArmor suit! If you have your PowerArmor without a helmet (like the Danse), your headgear will remain on.
Note: For this to work you have to do Core insertion (so it only works if there is no Core in the PA initially). This works seamlessly if you enable Auto Core eject (default), otherwise I …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
