About this mod Machine translation

These are a few Fallout 4 Performance Optimization.ini files that I edited to increase FPS in Fallout 4. This increases the field of view to 90, reduces the shadow map resolution and disables godrays. You're welcome! <3

EDIT: Make sure you leave a comment on the spec and if this helped you! As always, have fun and hopefully this helps everyone looking to play this game at a higher frame rate.

Edit 2:

My hardware specs:

Motherboard: X550ZA

Memory: 8GB DDR3

Processor: AMD Quad-Core A10-7400P @ 2.5 Ghz, up to @ 3.4 Ghz

Graphics: Integrated AMD Radeon R6

Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit

Sound: SonicMaster

Hard drive: 372GB and 542GB

Edit 3: FOV increased from 90 to 110

NOTE: Open Fallout4prefs.ini and change sd3ddevice="AMD Radeon(TM) R6 Graphics" to your graphics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Currently working on the blinding bloom/hdr issue.

Update 1.2 TONIGHT: There will be a patch for those who can support medium and high settings, but can't find stable fps.

Update 1.3 (11/26/2015) increases line of sight with more stable FPS as well as slightly higher FPS. Looking forward to feedback on this update! <3

EDIT 1.3: View distance increased slightly. Shadow map resolution has been reduced to 32. Sorry to everyone who wants to keep as much quality as possible. This update is only intended for people who don't have enough shading processing units.

Update 1.4 (11/30/2015) reduces shadow map resolution to minimum (if it doesn't already exist). Viewing distance will also be significantly reduced. Hopefully this will allow almost anyone to play the game.

EDIT: The final update (1.4) will be uploaded on 12/3/15. The soonest will be 12/1/15. In this update, the loading distance has been significantly reduced, the view distance has been maximized, the mesh has been reduced to a lower value, and the shadow map resolution has been reduced to a value of 2.

Hello everyone, the last update is almost complete. You can take a look at what the wasteland looks like in the screenshot. It looks rough, but it will improve your fps indefinitely. The actual viewing distance is maximized and the rendering distance is greatly reduced to the same shadow map resolution. If you want a perfect frame rate I would use this last update. If you want a decent frame rate but maintain as much quality as possible, I'd stick with the AMD spec update or stick with 1.2.

Update 1.4: For those wondering what's different from 1.4. 1.4 features higher quality and post-processing effects, and the viewing distance of objects, items and actors has been increased and maximized. Grass is set to the lowest value and everything else disappears at closer distances.

The shadow looks like crap, so I suggest you increase it from 2 to 16 or 32. That way it looks bad but doesn't cause landscape glitches. If you want it higher, the highest I'd recommend is 512 or 1024. Anything higher will cause fps drops when shadows are cast by multiple actors, grass, items and objects, and landscape. If you have enough shading processing units, feel free to increase this to 2048 or 4096.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
