The overhaul aims to steer FO4 in a more "immersive simulation" direction. Sister module of WARS Weapon Overhaul.

Pre-requisite: Full DLC

Settlement Menu Manager:

As the title states, it is recommended to use the sister module of WARS weapon overhaul together. Also as an overhaul, if you use other third-party modification modules at the same time without applying compatible patches, various problems will occur.

illustrate

Are the struggles of this world merely a pleasant game to you? Are you craving a more brutal take on life after the apocalypse?

If you answered "Yes, yes!", then Survival Hardship is for you! If your answer to "What? No, the idea that "survival mechanics" actually means "arbitrary difficulty" is a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes a feature like this fun, when it should actually be about immersive and fun interactions between the various game systems!", then that's interesting because that's what I think too.

While Vanilla Survival "subverts many of the rules of Commonwealth [vanilla] life to tackle its greatest challenges," PEACE does so in a way that makes you feel more like you're playing as a human rather than a robot.

As mentioned before, PEACE is a sister mod to WARS - WAR(S) and PEACE, so to speak. The two mods can be used separately, but they are designed to be used together.

WARS is an overhaul of Fallout 4's weapons and combat mechanics, while PEACE is an overhaul of everything else that I think needs attention. The overall goal is to take the game in a more "immersive simulation" direction. Meaning, this involves changing things to make them more believable (realism is a reference point, but not necessarily the end goal), as well as adding/expanding mechanics to try and improve immersion.

(Project Extended And Change Everything (PEACE) doesn’t intend to change everything—it’s just an antonym of awkward.

The Mod Features section below contains an exhaustive list of changes and additions in PEACE, but here's a brief summary: - Burden Overhaul:

Strength is still important, but now you need load-bearing equipment (LBE) like backpacks, pockets, and pouches to be able to carry a lot of stuff.

--- The character's STR value determines how much carry weight (CW) bonus any given LBE provides.

--- Added a range of backpacks; found worn by NPCs, vendors and more.

--- Existing clothing now acts as LBE via pockets, pouches, etc. (some can be upgraded).

---The "Pocket" and "Deep Pocket" armor mods now provide a STR-based CW bonus.

--- Power armor now has its own set of LBE mods that connect to new "storage" mod slots on the arm, leg, and torso armor pieces.

--- Armor/clothes are lighter when equipped. 50% reduction by default, none at all when ranking consecutively in strong back perks.

---The equipped weapon can compensate for its own weight and fully loaded ammunition. If it's in your hand, it's not in your backpack.

---Strength requirements for armor (penalty if not met). However, certain armor mods can reduce or even negate these requirements.

  • Medical and Chemical ---

Stingpace no longer heals injured limbs.

---HP and limb condition regeneration per hour of sleep (survival mode) has been greatly reduced (by default - configurable in the MCM menu) and is now affected by stamina.

---New items:

-----Healing powder. Returning from Fallout: New Vegas (as well as Fallout 2 and Tactics), this is less effective than the Stimpak and has a temporary Wisdom penalty, but is easier to find and craft.

-----Hydra. Also back from New Vegas, this heals injured limbs quickly, but has the potential for addiction.

-----Medical braces. These pieces of equipment work like armor and slowly heal injured limbs, but are bulky.

-----Powered Armor Medical Stand. The function is similar to ordinary medical braces, but without the hassle. They do take up the "Miscellaneous" mod slot, huh.

--- New settlement objects:

-----My first infirmary. Returning from Fallout 3, there are some tweaks. …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
