Version 2.1.0

Mod Manager (MO2/Vortex)

Files are written directly. The previous method (temporary file + rename) was not hooked by MO2's VFS, so the file ended up in the real Data folder or the overlay folder, and renaming under Vortex cut off the hard link and the mod retained the old version. Affects everything written by the application: ESP, FaceGen, face textures, materials, .tri, BodySlide projects, BodyGen inis, archives.

No files will be overwritten until the backup copy is confirmed to exist.

Multiple archives will be rolled back as a whole. A pair of half-archived templates.ini/morphs.ini allows NPCs in the game to have no body deformation.

If the app is killed mid-archive, recovery will be provided at the next start.

FaceGen baking cleans up the remnants of the previous baking after baking, not before baking. Previously, this method would remove files from the module under MO2.

NPC Manager - Occlusion

Each game is rebuilt; Fallout 4 and Skyrim use different rules. 10,510 original NPCs were compared.

Beards and hairlines peek through hoods and helmets.

Hair and beard coverings are done along the lanes of competition, not during set periods.

"Fallout 4" implements a partial hidden channel for the head (hiding the face subtree under the hood).

Pip-Boy occlusion comes from competition.

Headgear processing to sleeve helmets (mine helmets, headlamps).

NPC Manager — Editor

New "Model Declared Slots..." in ARMA Editor: Suggestions for grid-declared bipedal slots, with each slot opt-in.

New "New ARMA..." button.

Reopening "Edit Armor..." no longer discards plugins you added.

Overrides accepted without further editing are now written to ESP.

Material exchange draft can be removed.

NPC Manager - Default

Facial deformations are replaced rather than merged with the NPC's current deformation ("weird mouth" reported after loading preset).

Skyrim: A .jslot that just adds some tint layers and merges them; the rest of the values remain the same and don't reset to race defaults.

Presets with trailing content, unusual encodings, or overly large hex values can now be loaded; presets that are rejected by the game itself are no longer listed.

HeadParts in the default will be retained.

NPC Manager - Others

The clothing selection row shows what is actually drawn from the selected NPC; double-click to enter the hierarchical list.

Preview background: radial fade, with optional directional mode. Off by default.

  • Added shader diagnostic views for light abduction: geometry normals, tangents, bitangents, TBN errors and raw normal maps.
  • Added a new option to recalculate normals and tangents while ignoring locked normals and seam constraints for each shape.
  • Fixed shadow acne where shadows were offset along the normal map direction instead of the actual surface normal.
  • Fixed model space normal handling in Skyrim preview, including skinned meshes and shader diagnostics.
  • Fixed special effects material rendering bug when lighting is disabled.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
