Multiracial Workshop Actors Recruit Alien | Brahmin | Mad Ghoul | Mr. Brave | Mr. Handy | Human | Protector Robot | Synth | Super Mutant | Bodyguard | Use as a production resource and annoy your workshop settlers with greetings and chatty comments. Use beacons to recruit empty bed counts over time, or use radios to generate on-demand.

[Add some ethnic diversity to your population]

This solution adds two workshop-buildable devices to WorshopParent-registered workshops (aka "settlements");

(1) Multi-race spawning radio (Source: Misc), which requires no power to spawn the race of your choice (or randomly) on demand from its activation menu.

Spawn Radio Menu

Generate [Alien | Brahman | Mad Ghoul | Mr. Brave | Mr. Handy | Human | Protector Robot | Synth | Super Mutant | Bodyguard | Random ]

[Actor settings menu]

Restoration [mortal | *protected]

Scale health [*off | @5/player level | @10/player level]

Annoying hello/small talk [*enable |disable]

Generated in [ Radio | * Workshop Generated Tag ]

Generate POI recruits [ *close | in ]

Character Command Menu [ *Disabled | Enabled ]

[Give me a SKK character management instructions]

(2) Multi-race Recruiting Beacon (Power: Misc) Requires power like a normal beacon to select a race (or random) from the activation menu during the configured game hour interval until the seminar bed count. New beacon recruits will only appear when the player is present, so the workshop object will be loaded and the counters will be correct.

Recruitment Beacon Menu

Recruit [Alien | Feral | Brave | Convenient | Human | Protector | Synthesizer | Super Mutant | Trigger Hand | *Random]

[Beacon Settings Menu]

Beacon Recruitment [1 | *2 | All Free Beds]

Lighthouse period game time [6 | 12 | *24 | 48]

[Actor settings menu]

Same as above

(3) Enable spawn POI recruitment in the character settings menu to spawn recruitable Handy/Gutsy/Protectron workers at ~100 points of interest around the Commonwealth as the player wanders around. If you don't like surprises, there is a MISC mission objective [Recruit some robots] to map them. Just talk to them to receive, or use the MWA Actor command menu (if enabled). Do not use any other settler recruitment tools as they will not release the actor from the spawn cleanup task.

Brahmins are standard WorkshopBrahmin, humans are either standard WorkshopNPCs or standard Nukaworld faction lvlRaiders if it's a Raider Outpost. They will apply if you use actor overhauls on them.

Protections, Gutsies, and Triggermen use the base game LChar upgrade character template, which should work if you use actor overhaul on them.

The other races are custom lvlActors that have WorkshopNPCScript enabled for any production tasks or vendor assignments, and can be sent to other workshops. Unless they work at a competition level, your actor overhaul probably won't apply. By default they can all be assigned to and produce resources (but most don't produce idle animations), so if still doing the happy thing, count the population that needs food, water, and beds (except robots).

DLC04 Outpost: Humans spawn as DLC04 Raiders, with the correct faction automatically selected. Any other race can be added in DLC04 Raider Outposts. If the player is kicked out of that outpost faction, the MWA cast remains friendly to both the Reaver faction and the player, and therefore will remain neutral in any takeover battles. This can be confusing if they become followers and visit other hostile raider outposts.

To avoid aggro with neutral actors, all custom actors have been pacified to be less aggressive like regular boring settlers (AI Aggression = 1). Otherwise, the beasts in Sanctuary will attack Carla, which is racially justified but may be inconvenient for an RPG.

Any actor setting changes to recovery/health will only apply to future newly spawned actors. They are not applied retroactively to existing actors to avoid retaining them and competing with th …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
