describe:
V.I.S.C.E.R.A.L. enhances the aftermath of combat in Fallout 4 by adding a persistent blood effect to defeated NPCs and creatures.
Non-explosive kills will create a dynamic pool of blood that gradually grows underneath the body, while explosive kills will create larger random blood stains on the surrounding ground.
This mod uses F4SE to dynamically apply decals based on the body's position and nearby surfaces, making the effect better follow the terrain and the body's final resting position.
This is my first publicly released mod. I've made other mods for myself before, but this is my first version on. Feedback is very welcome - bug reports, suggestions and overall impressions will help me improve the mod and future updates.
I currently play Fallout 4 with Reactor ENB and NAC X, so all the screenshots shown on this mod page were taken with these mods active. Therefore, the lighting, toning, contrast, reflections, and overall look of the blood effects may differ in your own environment.
The blood textures used in the mod were created by combining and adapting materials from dDefinder's Enhanced Blood Textures (Skyrim and Fallout 4 versions) and Cazanu's GoreRunner. All credit for the original textures goes to their respective authors. Check out their mod and recommend it, without their efforts this mod would not have been possible!
Installation instructions
Install the download using the Vortex/Mod Manager, or manually extract the archive contents into your Fallout 4 data folder.

Launch the game via F4SE.
Main features:
animated blood pool
After killing the NPC, the blood pool will gradually expand, forming a more natural accumulation effect, instead of being generated at full body instantly.
Explosive Death Bloodstain
Explosive deaths produce large amounts of blood on the ground, including kills from grenades, Fat Man explosions, and weapons with Explosive Legendary effects. Explosive death does not form blood pools, which helps prevent too many different blood textures from overlapping in the same area.
Hit's custom blood splatter
High-quality blood splatters after every hit.
Random blood pool
使用了多个池子纹理,大小、形状和旋转都随机化,使每次死亡看起来不那么重复。
Random explosion splash
Explosion Splash also features random texture variations and rotations for enhanced visual variety.
Fatal hit location
Blood pools will appear along the body part that was critically hit, rather than directly in the center of the NPC.
Killed an NPC with a headshot? A pool of blood will form under the head after the body has settled.
For humans, the mod uses the body part reported by the critical hit. For supported mobs, the mod tracks the skeleton node closest to the final impact point and places the bone pool near that area.
Muppet perception arrangement
This module will wait until the corpse is stable before creating a blood pool, greatly reducing the occurrence of blood stains at NPC locations until the final ragdoll animation ends.
VATS / slow motion support
During VATS or other intense slow motion effects, the mod will wait for the game speed to be close to normal and confirm that the tracking area has stopped moving before placing the blood pool.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
