introduce
I've always loved robots and mechs, so when I heard that Fallout 4 was getting a complete DLC that would let you fully customize your robots, it made my heart swell with joy.
However, after spending some time traveling around the Commonwealth with my new killing machine, I feel like more could be done, as there are no plasma weapons for droids, not to mention that in higher and later game sessions they become very ineffective against stronger enemies.
I used Karel2015's "Automatron - Weapons System Overhual" for a long time, which somewhat alleviated this "problem", but, while it was a great mod, it introduced too many features that in my opinion were not particularly logical (or simply not practical), and, as you may know, this mod was long since abandoned and caused quite a few conflicts with the official Nuka World DLC.
Contains
This mod basically does two things:
- It expands the weapons and customization options available to you, allowing you to craft the following weapons/attachments:
- Automatic plasma rifle
- Plasma flame machine
- Plasma shotgun
- Plasma sniper rifle
- High speed minigun
- Incendiary Minigun
- Mr.Gutsy 44 Magnum
- Mr.Gutsy automatic 10mm gun
- Mr.Gutsy Plasma Gun
- Mr. Handy Mace
- Mr. Handy Ax
- Lorenzo Artifact Gamma Gun (can only be crafted if you have Lorenzo Artifact Gamma Dish in your inventory)
- Shoulder-fired Gauss Rifle (only for equipment that is out of the way)
- Shoulder-mounted quad rocket launcher
- Rear-mounted 81 mm heavy mortar launcher
- Rear-mounted 81 mm incendiary mortar launcher
- Rear-mounted 81 mm mortar cluster launcher
- 40mm grenade launcher
- 40 mm cartridge shooting
- MicroWave Emitter (works like a Tesla Coil, but it ignites nearby enemies)
- Explosion protection (increased resistance to explosions)
- Kynetic damping device (completely cancels out all damage from a fall)
- Cryo Emergency Discharge (releases a powerful cryogenic shock wave when the robot's health drops below 10%)
- It changes/redesigns certain aspects of the original Fallout4 and Automatron DLC that I personally don't think make a lot of sense, specifically:
- Sentry Bot's Ahab headgear now causes melee enemies to flee in panic instead of setting them on fire
- Regeneration Field has been turned down (healing rate is too high, defeating the purpose of stim potions, especially in survival experiences)
- Removed the destabilizing effects of the Gatling Laser and Explosive Minigun
- Changed shoulder-mounted Fat Man Launcher to Fusion Core Launcher (for lore reasons)
- Changed shoulder-fired Gas Launcher projectiles, area of effect and magnitude
- Changed shoulder-fired cluster launcher projectiles to explode on impact instead of spawning additional projectiles
- Change the names of some weapons
- Increases mesmetron's attack speed, but removes its seeking ability (you need a specific device - see below)
- Robobrains' cyclops head armor now allows mesmetron attacks to regain the ability to find targets, in addition to the increased damage
- Improved accuracy of minigun
- Improved missile launcher accuracy and damage
- Increased number of shots and accuracy of laser shotgun
- Improved long-range accuracy of Sentry Bots heads
- Increased the melee capability of the attacker's head
- Changed flamethrower projectiles to actually set enemies on fire when hit
- New grid for Mr. Handy / Mr. Gutsy laser guns
- New mesh for Mr. handy / Mr. Gutsy Combat Gun
- New grid for Cryo Gun
- New grid for Laser Gatling
- Sentry heavy flamer, now behaves like a napalm thrower
- Lightning Gun deals extra damage to robots, synths, turrets and power armor, and has a small chance of temporarily deactivatin …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
