1 - Download the preset you want to use from the Files section. If you are using Institute ASD (ASD), Railroad (RR), Railroad Enhanced (RRE), The Pack (PACK) or Lone Wanderer (LW), then you will also need to download and install the two ENB DLL binaries v323 or higher for ENB. Download the correct version, inside the wrapper folder are the two files you need - d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll.

2a (for ReShade v1.1) - Extract the preset files and copy the ReShade folder, dxgi.dll and ReShade.fx files into the root Fallout 4 folder. If using ASD, RR, RRE*, LW or PACK*, also copy the enbseries folder, enblocal.ini and enbseries.ini files to the foot Fallout 4 folder and the two ENB binaries in enbdev.com:

Example location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\

2b (for ReShade v3.0.X, currently used in The Pack and RRE presets) - Visit the ReShade website and follow the instructions to download and install ReShade v3.0.X (or current version). I recommend installing ReShade first, setting it up, and then running the game once to make sure all devices are using ReShade v3 before installing any presets. This way you know basic ReShade is working properly before any preset files are installed. Also, if you are switching presets between ReShade 1.1 and 3.0 (like me), I recommend creating a folder after installing ReShade 3 and copying all the core installed ReShade files in the FO4 directory into it. This way you don't have to keep running the installer every time. I did the same thing with ReShade v1.1. When I switch presets, I put all the files I need for each preset in a folder. Then all I need to do is copy the contents into FO4 di

Rector. When done just delete them and copy the next one I want to use - makes adding/removing presets very clean and super fast.

After installing ReShade 3.0.X, you can copy the PACK preset files. Also install all ENB files using the same instructions mentioned in step 1. Note that I included the dxgi.ini file for The Pack and RRE as it already has the path saved for the settings file. If you already have a dxgi.ini file, there is no need to copy it. However, once you launch the game and ReShade 3 is loaded, you will need to choose the settings INI. You can also manually edit the path in dxgi.ini. For example, for the RRE preset it would look like this (assuming your game is installed in the default region):

PresetFiles = C:\ Program Files(x86)\ Steam \ steamapps \ common \ Fallout 4 \ Railroad.ini

You can have multiple in the PresetFiles path - just separate them with semicolons.

  • If using ASD, RR, RRE, PACK or LW, you will also need the two ENB files downloaded in step 1. These files are named d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll and can be found in the packaging folder of the files you obtained from enbdev.com. Copy these two files into the root Fallout 4 directory. You may need to add them as exclusions for virus protection. If using Windows 10 right click on each and make sure they are not blocked. You may also need to set them up to run with administrator rights.
  • If using ENB, be sure to edit the enblocal.ini file with the correct settings. For MEMORY settings, use Boris' ENB VRAM test for Dx11 to find out how much memory you have. Then deduct 170 MB (win7-8) or 370 (win10) from the total. This is a good starting point, but you may need to tweak it further. When a test note is run, it will be based on the memory of any running software. Therefore, if you run Firefox, the amount of memory may be different than when FF is closed. This is because FF can use video memory. Tapiok has a great video guide to ENB, including memory setup, so I recommend watching it (link in sticky note in the comments).

It is recommended that you set the following field to false to avoid stuttering: ApplyStabilityPatch = false (setting it to true does not cause stuttering, but it may for some people as Boris pointed out).

  • After copying all the files, you can start using it. La …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
