  • Minor revision: Fixed walking offset applied when calling out Pip-Boy

Updated on August 12th:

Version 1.3.2

  • Editor ID is now resolved even if Baka Framework is not installed, I made a mistake
  • Sliding no longer automatically jumps, you have to actually press the crouch key, oops!
  • Improvements to contextual tilt detection, more invisible collisions should be ignored to avoid tilting in open spaces
  • This should solve the problem of the aiming and zoom data of the equipped weapon being disturbed after being shot repeatedly.
  • Should prevent sprint key input from causing you to suddenly lose crouch while gliding

Updated on August 2nd:

Version 1.3.1

  • Hotfixes for several squat glide bugs

-Fixed the sound of being unable to deploy while crouching and sliding during installation, because I'm a fool

Version 1.3.0

  • Added the function of crouching down the ladder! Going from sprinting (in any direction!) to crouching will make you slide on the ground!
  • Hopefully fixed a bug that caused users to crash when getting in and out of power armor.
  • Fixed auto-fire sound looping when throwing grenades after reloading, oops
  • If you use this mod, synchronize WBFOV functionality with FOV slider F4SE improvements

If you find this module interesting, please recommend it to me (original author TheShinyHaxorus, the same below)! I really hope this becomes standard on most/all mod lists and everyone should be able to see it. Thanks to everyone who reported their experiences and questions. This helps me a lot!

This is a first person shooter plugin. There are currently no plans to support third-person functionality. Thanks!

What's this?

It brings another cool FPS gameplay content. I took the work on Skyrim Special Edition FP Inertia and brought it to Fallout 4, then rebuilt and expanded it. Hence the name change: FP Gunplay Overhaul.

The original Fallout 4's camera model had almost no weight when moving, and there was only slight camera lag on weapons. If you've played Escape from Tarkov, Battlefield, Call of Duty, or pretty much any modern FPS, you know the impact weapon inertia has on the moment-to-moment experience. That's the core of this mod: spring resistance in the hand and gun, so aiming, side-shifting, sprinting, jumping, shooting, and reloading all feel like the weapon has mass.

There's also a bunch of optional gunplay extras (early aiming returns, weapon-based camera model vision, dry fire, super dash, combo guns, situational tilt, etc.).

The game is fully customizable through the F4SE menu framework. The default build for all weapon types comes with this mod, which should feel good on both the original animation and most modded firearms. Specific weapons can have their own presets, and modders can also ship hand-tuned presets with their mods.

If you've made a weapon type preset for your favorite animated set (or even the original) or a weapon preset that you particularly like, please share it. Put the JSON into the folder below and upload it as a patch or optional file!

Weapon inertia:

All weapons here are first person/mechanical sights.

Camera Appearance Inertia: View model delays and stabilizes when turning (stiffness, damping, mass, max offset/rotation, entire dial)

Moving inertia: rocking when moving forward, left, and right

Walking direction offset: small additive poses for each walking direction; blending in ADS

ADS zoom: independent iron sights and multiplier with scope, in and out impulse, optional programmed ADS transition movement

Sprint, Jump, Land, Equip: Impact, so s …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
