describe
Replaced the original subtitle system with floating subtitles above the player or NPC's head.
Can support any number of subtitles on the screen - limited to the number of NPCs currently speaking.
Subtitles dim when NPCs are behind walls or blocked from view.
Subtitles for off-screen NPCs appear at the bottom of the screen, just like in the original.
Localized subtitles
Display subtitles in all official languages, not limited to the language the game is set to.
Bilingual subtitles are also supported.
This feature requires talking to localized subtitles (the mod must have a corresponding .ILStrings file).
Sometimes the vanilla subtitle may not be localized because it was edited in the mod but the string table was not updated accordingly.
Regular subtitles have limited dual-language support because Scaleform cannot render all characters.
custom made
Requires ImGui Fonts mod 2.0+ for fonts.
Subtitle color can be edited by changing the following content in Fallout4.ini. Speaker names are dynamic and will match the game HUD color.
[Interface]
uSubtitleR = 0
uSubtitleR = 0
uSubtitleG = 255
Use MCM settings to resize subtitles.
If you don't plan to display Chinese/Japanese/Korean subtitles, you can delete the SecondaryFont section to save some resources.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
