Regarding the xml settings, please refer to the skyrim documentation as the functionality is exactly the same.

How to set nif

Add NiStringExtraData (not NiString's "ExtraData") and name it: HDT Skinned Mesh Physics Object

Specifies the path to the XML in the string data. It can be a relative path to Data/, such as Meshes\armors\your_armor\physics.xml, or a simple xml file name. You can also put it in Data/F4SE/Plugins/FO4FasterHdtSMP.

SMP Previewer

You can also use the SMP previewer to preview physics behavior outside of the game.

in F4SE/Plugins/FO4FasterHdtSMP

In-game visualization and debugging

configs.xml has some useful settings for debugging and performance.

Set enableBulletVisualization to true and restart the game to activate in-game visualization.

Set logLevel to 4 and restart the game so that some useful information will be logged when the game stops working.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
