MCM menu supports: brightness, suffix, shortcut keys, log level, all of which are displayed in the menu in real time.

Settings: Hot reload when system menu is closed - no need to close and restart Pip-Boy.
Automatic upgrade from v1.3.0: INI values and shortcut scan codes are migrated to locations managed by MCM.
Non-MCM users: Still operate through Data/F4SE/Plug-in/UnreadNotes.ini (only use fruit keys, no modifier keys).
New recommended dependency: Module configuration menu.

Version 1.3.0
Now runs on NG (1.10.984) and AE (1.11.x) as well as OG - single DLL, runtime automatically detected on load
Requires F4SE address library - get the .bin that matches your specific game version
Both OG and AE confirmed working - I don't have the NG's device set up to test; please report any nasogastric tube issues
Your 1.2.1 read/marked items are automatically delivered - no changes to cosave format

FallUI - Unread Notes and Holotapes
Have you ever scrolled through Pip-Boy's Notes tab and wondered which notes you've read? This mod solves this problem.
feature
Dimmed Read Items - Read notes and holotapes are displayed with 50% transparency (configurable 0–100%) for clear visual distinction
"(Read)" suffix - appended to read project name (text configurable)
Instant updates - the list refreshes immediately as you read notes, no need to close Pip-Boy
Toggle Key - Configurable key to mark any Pip-Boy item as read/unread. Especially suitable for miscellaneous items (recipes, blueprints, contracts) and game cartridges
Mark Key - A single key press marks an item as "marked" - remains bright, has a visible suffix, and is automatically marked as read skipped. Ideal for configuring holotapes (SKK, Global Stash, etc.) and FormID's Fallout Notes for reuse in different game content
Magazine comes with - automatically tagged when reading via Pip-Boy, just like notes
Applies to all readable items - notes, magazines, text holotapes, audio holotapes, game cartridges, recipes, blueprints, contracts
Persistence across archives - your read history is stored in F4SE co-archives and survives load order changes
Supports all FallUI themes - Alpha-based dimming so it won't hinder any color scheme
Hot reloadable configuration - change settings and reopen Pip-Boy without restarting the game
How it works
Pip-Boy uses it to track opened items. If you listen to the holotape in the terminal and then retrieve it, Pip-Boy is not involved - it will appear as unread until you open it from your backpack. Think of it like a Pip-Boy read receipt.
Project status
Every tracked item is in exactly one of three states:
Unread - full brightness, no suffix
Read - dim, "(read)" suffix. Automatically applied when reading via Pip-Boy, or via the toggle key
Marked for full brightness, suffixed by "(*)". Set via tag key. Tag items skip auto-tagging
Switching and marking are mutually exclusive: marking a read item clears it; switching a marked item clears the mark.

Install
Install using the Mod Manager as usual, or manually place UnreadNotes.dll into Data/F4SE/Plugins/. The UnreadNotes.ini configuration file is automatically created the first time it is run.
This is a DLL-only plugin - it does not modify or replace any FallUI files.
compatibility
Supports all FallUI display options, color schemes and column configurations
FallUI's column header sorting (by name, value, weight, etc.) still works normally
No known conflicts with other F4SE plugins

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
