About this mod Machine translation

New command line mode (BETA)

Quick batch operations can be achieved using the command line.

Usage: FO4FaceRipper.exe <input-file> <input-ID> [<output-file> <output-id>]

For example: FO4FaceRipper.exe "My Preset.json" 0 "My Mod.esp" 225b67

For example: FO4FaceRipper.exe "My Old Save.fos" 7 "My New Preset.json" 0

(Must use 0 as ID for .json preset.)

Warning: Unlike the form interface, command line operations will directly change the output file (keep a backup).

Now supports reading and writing LooksMenu presets!

This program allows you to transfer your character's face to a new game. It can take the face you downloaded and put it on your premium character. It takes your character's face and places it on the Piper. It can do a lot of surprising things, including putting one face on another's face. Give it a try and rip off a face today!

save to save

How to transfer a character's face from one save to another:

  • Download and open this utility, it can run anywhere.
  • Browse your source saves for the face save you want to use.
  • Browse the target save you want to use, save as well as progress, statistics, etc.
  • Confirm that "Player - 7" is selected for source and destination.
  • Click Transfer Face and a new merge will be created and saved.

*You can also rip faces from NPCs edited using LooksMenu!

Plug-in to save

You can also transfer from plugins you downloaded or even Fallout4.esm.

Skin tone and makeup

If skin color and makeup are not displayed correctly in game:

  • Enter LooksMenu (console: slm 14).
  • Move the cursor to the neck and enter the skin tone menu.
  • Do not accept the change, just move the selection to another color.
  • The face should be updated once with the correct skin tone and cosmetics.
  • Exit, exit the Appearance menu, and save your game.

save to plugin

Experts and adventurers.

How to make new faces for NPCs:

  • Prepare a plug-in

one. Open FO4Edit and find the record/table for the NPC you want to edit.

Copy this record as an overlay for the new plugin, name it whatever you like.

C. Close FO4Edit to save the new plugin.

  • Prepare face

one. Open the game and load a save or start a new game.

b. Edit your face in character creation or use "slm 14" in the console.

C. Save your game.

d. Find your save file on your computer and rename it to something useful.

  • Execute copy

one. Open Face Ripper.

b. Save from Part 2 browse source.

C. Select "Player - 7" from the upper drop-down menu.

d. Browse Target Plugins from Part 1.

i.e. select the NPC's ID from section 1 in the drop down list.

F. Press the transfer face and then press any message box.

G. Enables a new plugin that appends the NPC's ID to the name.

H. Load up your game and see if the process works.

This is the basics. You can also add existing faces to the LooksMenu using face presets (which are normal NPC_records).

reset button

The "Reset Faces" button will remove the face data from the specified NPC* from the save file (i.e. the explicit changes were made in the LooksMenu). This will allow the add-on to cover the face again or restore vanilla. This is only necessary when using LooksMenu on NPCs.

*Curie cannot be reset! I recommend never using LooksMenu in Curie.

Known issues

  • Unable to renumber record IDs in to-plugin transfers. You need to use FO4Edit to properly add the new master to the plugin with the original records.
  • ESL is not fully supported. Like new hairstyles added in ESL may not transfer correctly.
  • Many NPCs have a property (FMIN facial deformation strength) that makes them incompatible with each other or the player, causing some distortion when ripping (Piper is one such NPC). I don't know how to correct this problem.

Permissions

Please feel free to modify and share any files generated by Face Ripper.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
