Overview
A collection of various engine-level fixes, patches, and warnings. Supports both game versions.
This mod contains some brand new fixes specifically for Fallout 4 as well as some fixes ported from the Skyrim SKSE mod. Compatible with Buffout 4 NG, X-Cell, High FPS Physics Fix and most other engine fixes.
Specific
Each fix, patch, and warning can be individually enabled or disabled in the included.toml file.
Fixes:
Added many project fixes - (default: enabled | supports both versions)
Fixed an issue where items were invalid when transferring more than 65,535 items at a time.
Place multiple project fixes - (default: enabled | supports both versions)
Fixed an issue where items were invalid when placing more than 32,767 items at once.
ActorCause save bloat fix - (default: enabled | Supports both versions)
Remove unused ActorCause data from projectiles when unloading cells to reduce save size.
From my testing, this isn't as big of a deal as it was in New Vegas, but it still helps a little.
Battle music fixes - (default: enabled | supports both versions)
Fixed an issue where battle music could continue to loop when a battle ends or a save is loaded.
Encounter Zone Fixes - (Default: Enabled | Next-Gen only)
Fixed an issue where encounter areas would immediately reset when leaving.
This fix only applies to Next-Gen players, as Buffout 4 NG already covers this fix for Last-Gen players.
Ranked list crash fix - (Default: enabled | Supports both versions)
Fixed an issue where rating lists with more than 255 entries could cause the game to CTD.
Magic effect condition fix - (default: enabled | Only for Last-Gen)
Fixed a major issue with floating point precision that would ultimately prevent magic effects' conditions from updating correctly.
This can ultimately break spells/perks/really everything.
This version fixes none of the addiction bugs reported on other mods.
Stolen Power Armor Ownership Fix - (default: enabled | Supports both versions)
Fixed an issue where players never received proper ownership of stolen power armor frames.
Workbench Sound Fix - (default: enabled | Supports both versions)
Fixed issue with Workbench sound effects looping infinitely on characters.
This is often referred to as the "sewing machine sound bug".
PATCHES:
Puddle Cubemaps Patch - (default: enabled | Supports both versions)
Patch all loaded world spaces to remove flickering on puddles and blood pools.
warn:
Duplicate plugin node warning - (default: enabled | Supports both versions)
Warn if there are two or more plugin nodes in the load order with the same node index.
hierarchical list entry count warning - (default: enabled | supports both versions)
Document and report any existing hierarchical list with more than 255 entries.
This warning does not fix or prevent problems with hierarchical lists of more than 255 entries, it only reports them.
Have fun!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
