[Suffering for the art of searching]
Install this solution at any time in any game and it will have absolutely no impact on your in-game loot unless or until:
(a) Use the [.SKK Dynamic Loot Reduction] auxiliary item, which pops up the menu after exiting the vault and sets the loot chance between 0% and 100% or random. It regenerates after each use, if lost or never received, please make it at chemlab.
(b) Before adding the mod to the save game, use xEdit to set the GlobalVariable SKK_DLRLootChance to less than 100 and the mod will automatically activate on first load.
(c) PC Host [ cqf SKK_DLRQuest "SKK_DLRQuestScript.SwitchLootChance" VALUE ], where VALUE is a percentage between 0 (no loot) and 100 (all loot, so the solution does nothing) or -1, randomly between 10% and 90%.
Container
This will modify the 51 Container_Loot* and 3 LLI_Loot_Lock* base game level lists to add the ChanceNone global variable. If any other mod hard-modifies these level lists (not script injection), the last one in the load order wins. Losing to a lower load order conflict doesn't break this solution, it just does nothing for container loot.
If installed in an active save game, this will not affect a 3D loaded container so that its inventory will be generated in the active area before the next CellReset (iHoursToRespawn* value).
Placed items
As the player moves through the world, the script finds all MISC, AMMO, and POTION objects in the uGridsToLoad active area around the player once and deletes them based on the Chance value at that time.
Once an item is found and evaluated against that chance, if it survives, a keyword is added to ignore it so that it doesn't get evaluated every time the player passes. This means that if the odds drop to zero after an item is evaluated, it will not be removed for double jeopardy protection.
This always excludes items marked as quest objectives/player-owned/with the FeaturedItem keyword, such as bobbleheads/mags. Read the SKK Dynamic Loot Reduction Object Filter to learn about 58 static base game forms.
Configure the toggle to include or ignore the 260 base game unique MISC & POTION forms in the LootItemsUnique form list. Read SKK Dynamic Loot Reduction Object Filters for a complete list.
Configure the toggle to include or ignore 186 base game forms with the NotJunkjetAmmo keyword. Most of the important task-related objects are already in the LootItemsUnique form list. Read SKK Dynamic Loot Reduction Object Filters for a complete list.
xEdit formlist SKK_DLRItemsToExclude (save as override) to add any specific MISC, AMMO or POTION base form to always ingore.
Known issues
(1) The script is frame rate limited and evaluates ~1 item per frame. The average search finds 30 items with a response time of 0.5 seconds, but an initial downtown search can return 600 items, which would take ~10 seconds to process if your potato can maintain 60fps in that broken geometry. To be clear, these Papyrus scripts are affected by your GFX render frame rate, so they will not affect your GFX render frame rate because they will not produce rendering artifacts. Downtown Xbox users say that removing items actually helps improve frame rates. Facts and logic.
(2) The original "When Freedom Calls" museum mission may be affected by the removal of the Fusion Core because MQ102FusionCoreREF > MISC DummyNoEdit_FusionCore is not protected. The mission will still advance with any Fusion Cores in your inventory, so loot harder.
(3) The General Atomics Plant side quest DN050 QA may be affected because it uses some standard MISC items (abraxo/wrench) as stage triggers with no exclusion properties at all.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
