Introduction: In the original "Fallout 4", the dismemberment mechanic often seemed limited or inconsistent. Even powerful weapons sometimes lack the raw punch you'd expect.
The dynamic dismemberment system turns combat into a more passive and brutal experience. This is a real bloody overhaul at the engine level.
Each time a limb is hit, the game checks its true health.
If the status of this limb returns to zero, it can be cut off instantly even if the target is still alive.
The same rules apply to destroying the head.
When a head's status drops to zero, the fight can be immediately ended in a satisfying way.
There is no script.
All operations occur directly within the game's hit handling process.
Power armor is ignored by default.
Core Highlights
Limb damage detection - react based on actual limb condition, not random
Live Dismemberment - Even if the enemy is still alive, arms and legs can be chopped off
Decisive headshot - optional instant kill when the head explodes
Optional VATS Exclusive Executions - Cinematic headshot kills only within VATS
Remote and melee controls separately
VATS critical hit bonus
Fully configurable via INI and form list
Working principle
I will definitely have to check out this video about this mod!
With each blow, check the condition of the limb where it was struck.
If the limb status is reset to zero, one of three outcomes may occur:
Cut off - the loss of a limb
Explosion - head violently destroyed
None - None - no bloody action triggers
The final outcome is determined by a configurable priority system.
**Form**
You can assign specific ammo or melee weapons to custom brutality categories.
**Weapon Behavior Flag System**
Automatically respects weapons' built-in dismemberment or explosion behavior.
**Rules Mode**
You decide which system has priority:
**Form Priority**
Configured list priority. If no options are listed, the weapon behavior is used as an alternative.
**Form only**
Only configuration lists control Gore.
**Weapon Behavior**
Only flags built into the weapon will be respected.
**Extreme brutality**
Every effective limb break leads to a bloody scene.
Ranged and melee combat can be configured independently.
**VATS crit coverage**
When enabled, VATS critical hits can force bloodshed even if the weapon itself does not cause bloodshed.
The limb must actually be broken. Damage is always key.
**Head Damage Control**
When a head status returns to zero, an instant headshot kill can be enabled.
You can also limit headshots to VATS for cinematic executions.
Or allow head gore only if the target dies of natural causes from the hit.
To see how everything interacts, I recommend watching the demonstration video.
Remote combat
Different ammo types determine the destructive power of the attack.
Heavy ammunition can rip limbs off.
Cruel placement can completely destroy the head.
You decide how much impact the ammo or weapon behavior will have on the final outcome.
Melee Combat
Melee combat follows its own unique rules.
You can allow every attack to potentially sever a limb,
Or just allow stro …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
