Updated on September 6th:
Version 1.02
Continuing the new changes from the unofficial Fallout 4 patch
Inherited the new changes of "Blood Correction"
Version 1.01
Implemented a new set of "old" bloodstain textures, using non-reflective faded black stains instead of less reflective crimson stains.
Convert a lot of "dry" textures into new "old" textures.
I converted over a hundred blood stains from Bethesda's "dry" stickers into my new "old" stains.
Inherited the position fixes from my upcoming Blood Fixes mod.
The standard version (applicable to the next-generation version of the game) and the GOG version (applicable to the 163 version of the game) files have been uploaded. Both support component and BA2 formats. There are four files in total. You can choose one of the four to download and install according to your own game version and installation preferences.
----
Have you noticed that almost all the blood in Fallout 4 is fresh? Even though it has been around for over 200 years? It's been bugging me (Glitchfinder) for a while, and I just recently decided to fix it... only to realize that Bethesda included dried blood textures in the game and didn't bother to use them at all. So I used textures for them.
Features
Implements the same dry equivalent as most blood decals in the game.
Replaced over 700 blood decals with dry equivalents.
Fixed placement of many replaced decals.
Mark the main file as lightweight (esl-tagged esm) to minimize impact on load order.
FAQ
**How do I get started using this mod? **
Just install it! No configuration or special steps are required.
**Why does this include textures if the game already has textures? **
There are several reasons. First, I adjusted the specular map to make the dried blood less reflective. Secondly, I adjusted the opacity of several decals and created some new ones, such as dry handprints.
**Why is it the main file? **
There are two reasons. First, I want it to lose conflicts with other mods to prevent it from messing up other authors' decorations. Second, it makes it easier for anyone to use it as a master file for their own patches.
**Will you be doing patches for any other mods to use dried blood? **
I have no plans to patch anyone's mod to use this, but anyone who wants to do so is welcome to do so.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
