Difficulty and Realism Reform 2.1. If you hit a guy in the head with a missile launcher and he's still alive... if you notice that some people have 30 times more health than others... if you notice that some enemies are too weak and others are too strong. ..if you notice your world level...if you notice you can go AFK while a Vertibird shoots you and comes back alive all this stuff and more makes you say:

Then this mod might be for you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This mod is for NORMAL difficulty or survival, use the mod for 1:1 damage. As the difficulty increases, you will either take heavy damage or survive in normal situations.

I'm leaving the older versions for those who prefer them to get a proper modding experience, use the 2.0-2.1 versions of all mods. For example, if you don't use perk mods or play with health mods, you won't get a proper experience.

This mod should work as close to last in the load order as possible. Only my weapon replacement patch should be after it, nothing else. It has no adverse effects on mods, such as companion mods that won't mess with other NPC weapons/armor/health/damage values. Quest mods work "well enough", but any weapons or armor they add will be worthless, and some NPCs may get out of control with too much health. This isn't game-breaking, it just means you need to do the 10 minutes of editing the mod yourself or deal with these issues.

This mod is intended to address numerous issues I found in Fallout 4, such as enemies with too much or too little health (the first Marauder you encounter has 30 health, while the toughest gunslinger has 1300 health in the retail game) weapon expansions that are too much for mods and perks, certain enemies that are too weak (bots and Vertibirds) and overall making the game more difficult. Also, this mod is for those who want tough, exciting combat but don't like hunting for ammo after ammo or struggling to heal, I'd say that's the main difference between this mod and Horizon. While Horizon is a very good mode, I personally just want fun combat without having to worry about how I'm going to heal or that I can't use my minigun because it has no ammo. While there is some realism in this, we have to consider that you are 1 man against 1000 enemies... so I think we can ignore the fact that ammo and healing are probably easier to find than others 210 years after the world was destroyed. Here is a list of some of the changes made by this mod:

  • Human health has normalized. Humans will now have 250 to 550 health, including players. In the base game, human health ranges from 30-1260, which is stupid. Human enemies are now more dangerous based on their weapons, armor and combat skills (hit chance) rather than just over-inflated health.
  • Certain enemies are faster than others, such as Deathclaws, Dogs and Assaultrons are now much faster... you can't escape them. Fight to die or not be seen first.
  • Robots are armored. Gunpowder based weapons are very ineffective against them. Pulse grenades now only destroy robot enemies and deal massive damage to them. The pulse stuns the human but leaves him unharmed.
  • Weapons have been carefully adjusted. They start doing more damage, but the mod doesn't increase gunpowder gun damage, but their handling, rate of fire, and other aspects. Now you can pick up a gun and it's somewhat useful. The laser has almost no recoil, and the plasma does massive damage, but quickly loses damage at range. The missile is thermal (high explosive anti-tank) so does huge damage to a single target, has high armor penetration but little AoE damage.
  • An example of weapon damage and tuning is the 5.56 doing 157 damage, while the .45 builds 180. However, the 5.56 holds power at longer range, and is still powerful at range, where the .45 takes damage steadily at range. When setting the damage values, I tried to strike a balance between realism and gameplay. Based on the gun, 5mm has an armor penetration rate of 30-40%. Lower damage than 5.56, but generally h …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
