DEF_UI Iconlibs

About this mod Machine translation
describe
It's been bothering me that all the icons used in DEF_UI and the updated icon library have different borders and sizes, breaking the layout and text alignment of all stock screens. This small issue causes the interface to look very inconsistent.
Because I couldn't fix icon rendering in DEF_UI, I rescaled and fixed all current icons in icon libs2.swf from omega9380's updated ICONLIBS2 for DEF_UI.
What I did in detail:
Export all 292 vector shapes from iconlibs2.swf
The rescaled shapes and their bounding boxes are 26x26 pixels
Icon shapes without filled square borders are reduced and centered (top to bottom, left to right)
Reimport vector shapes into iconlibs2.swf without changing marker references
Overhauled icons that didn't fit other icon designs and fixed some visual bugs (work in progress)
Created a more subtle color variant from scratch
I think these changes provide a cleaner look for all interfaces that use icons.

Install
This mod only contains an interface flash file and can be installed/removed/updated at any time. Be sure to overwrite iconlibs2.swf in DEF_UI. This file is packaged for use with any mod manager.
I highly recommend using Mod Organizer 2.
notes
If you are using the Fine Color Icon Library, I recommend using the following settings and modes to have the correct colored icons in every interface of your game. The Container/Barter interface, the Pip-Boy interface and the PA Pip-Boy interface. Some of these changes also improve clarity and readability.
Add these INI settings in the corresponding categories of fallout4custom.ini, otherwise they won't work. Add them to existing categories, or if the category does not exist, add them to the end of the INI file. By default, there should not be only the [Pipboy] category.
To have a clear, readable, and overall cleaner Pip-Boy screen like in the second screenshot, add the following line:
[Pipboy]
bPipboyDisableFX = 1
For correct shading in all inventory screens, your HUD color must be white. You can do this by adding:
[Interface]
iHUDColorR = 255
iHUDColorG = 255
iHUDColorB = 255
Use these settings if you use Power Armor frequently. This changes the HUD color in PA, but not the rest of the PA HUD elements:
[Pipboy]
fPAEffectColorR = 1
fPAEffectColorG = 1
fPAEffectColorB = 1
You don't have to change these color settings for your Pip-Boy, as that's already taken care of by disabling all Pip-Boy screen effects on the first line.
Even with all these settings, the PA Pip-Boy screen is still very bright and can wash out colors. To do this, add the following line (thanks to DankRafft for suggesting this!):
[Display]
fPipboyScreenEmitIntensityPA = 1
fPipboyScreenDiffuseIntensityPA = 0
I also recommend using the Power Armor Map Fix to further help with overbright interface and map screens.
Finally, if you want everything to be consistent with the white HUD, you can use different colored white variants for the power armor HUD.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
