Dear Mod Interface: A unified in-game menu for Fallout 4 mods.
Built on dear ImGui
DearModdingUI (DMUI) provides a clean and customizable overlay menu for Fallout 4. It provides a unified space for native plugins (plus existing MCM menus via built-in bridges) with consistent styles, layouts and fonts.
Features
Central menu for native DMUI plugins and bridged MCM menus.
The command palette is used to search for mods, settings pages, or actions.
There are three options for sidebar layout: tree, dual-pane, or drill-down.
Appearance customization: scaling, opacity, accent colors, background blur, and fonts (including Jost and Atkinson Hyperlegible).
Built-in health tab with copyable diagnostic reports for troubleshooting.
MO2 support: The plugin can open loose files and directories directly in the operating system or text editor.
Prerequisites
Fallout 4 for Windows
F4SE (match your game version)
F4SE plug-in address library
Module Configuration Menu (MCM) (optional, only required for bridge MCM page)
Installation and use
Install the requirements and install DMUI using your mod manager.
Launch the game via F4SE (use MO2 if you use MO2).
Press the end key to switch menus during the game (supports rebinding).
Escape first closes open conversations, then closes menus.
Configuration file:
- Settings and Binding: DearModdingUI.toml
- Window layout: imgui.ini
MCM bridging (experimental)
DMUI includes DearModdingUI-MCM, a bridge that reads existing MCM configurations and displays them in DMUI.
Map standard switches, sliders, menus and actions directly from original settings files.
Unable to reproduce custom Scaleform or Flash interface elements.
Currently MCM's shortcut keys are read-only; place these bindings inside MCM.
If you are using a mod that relies on MCM, it is recommended to continue the installation.
For modders,
Add in-game UI to your F4SE plugin, dear, IMGUI, share context, and eliminate the need to manually manage DirectX hooks.
C ABI and header-only C++ wrappers
Built-in support for controls, dialogs, stories, notifications, and overlays.
Note: DMUI is still before 1.0, so API changes may occur as it matures.
Documentation and headers: DearModdingUI-API and Dear Modding CommonLibF4.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
