::What's this?

HUD module that displays companion status.

Companion Status Enhanced is based on registrator2000's awesome Companion Status HUD, and inspired by the beautification options of Tooun Remastered's Companion Status UI.

This takes those ideas and expands on them, adding customizability, custom icon support, and a tracking system to locate injured and downed companions on the battlefield.

:: Prerequisites

Fallout 4 - Version 1.10.163.0 or higher

HUD frame

:: How to use?

Shortly after installation, a status section should appear in the upper right corner, assuming you have a companion. This will react to them taking damage and using AP. It also has default tracking for Stimpaks and Grenades.

If a portrait icon is available for a character, that icon will also be displayed - otherwise the default Vault Boy icon will be displayed in place of their portrait. (See the miscellaneous files for a tutorial on adding a custom portrait icon to CSE!

Custom HUD

You can customize where the HUD is displayed, whether to show portraits, scale, and when the HUD is displayed in the CSE Hologram Strip, which can be crafted at the Chemistry Workbench. These controls and some hotkey position/zoom controls are available to MCM users.

Tracking system

Tracking options are included in the holotape. These will enable missions to track your companions using objective markers under a variety of conditions, such as only when they are downed and require a Stimpak.

Color Portrait

To get a colorful portrait, change the HUD color to white. You can do this under Settings > Display and move the three HUD color sliders all the way to the right.

:: SIM SETTLEMENTS 2 supported

CSE includes custom icons for most characters in the game in Sim Settlements 2.

For SS3 players participating in the assault mechanic introduced in Chapter 2, this will automatically hook and display soldiers once the assault begins, even if they are not technically companions. Combined with CSE's tracking system, this is a great way to find and tag your team.

:: Known issues

CSE HUD elements may end up taking on a red tint if you hover over an item that can be stolen. This is because the HUD frame will in some cases attach itself to the crosshair, so anything that changes the crosshair color will affect everything attached to it. This is not a problem we can solve.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
