What does this mod add?
New reloading mechanism:
Bullets in the chamber, giving you an extra round when partially loaded.
Optional tactical reload mode so that only TR-enabled weapons can use this feature. This means you never need to tinker with any weapons.
Drops ammo when reloading. You can drop your ammo on the ground or have it disappear forever. This also takes into account the extra bullets in the chamber, you will drop 1 less bullet than you currently have in the weapon.
Immersive Ammunition Check:
An approximate ammo check hotkey that displays a message with the approximate amount of ammo remaining in the magazine, e.g. approximately half.
An accurate ammo check hotkey that displays the exact current, maximum and reserve quantities as well as the name of the ammo currently in use.
Simple animations (lowering and raising weapons) and foley while checking ammo. Compatible with all weapons, no patches required.
Very suitable for players who want minimum HUD and maximum immersion.
If anyone wants to, they can send me a message via xVASynth making a voice line for this mod.
If you would like to make or already have custom ammo check animations for your weapons and would like them to work with this mod, be sure to let us know!
New hotkeys:
Hotkeys for seamlessly changing launch modes. The implementation is different from other mods that do this (e.g. ECO). This does not require native semi-automatic fire sounds built into the weapon, making it compatible with all automatic weapons.
Lower/holster weapon hotkeys. Short press to lower, long press the holster. Includes "fast walking" fix for slow animation when weapon is lowered.
Reload/check ammo hotkey. Short press to reload, long press to check ammo. This hotkey is currently incompatible with the manual version of Tactical Reload; please use the original reload key instead.
Separate grenade throwing and melee hotkeys.
And more...
The ability to throw grenades requires your weapon to be holstered. Now this is immersive.
Ability to turn each feature on/off via the Mod configuration menu. This makes it compatible with almost everything, depending on the features you plan to use.
Patching Weapons
Keywords, keywords are everywhere:
If you do not have Tactical Reload Mode enabled, you will need to patch some weapons by adding the BitCh_DisableChamberedReload keyword to exclude them from the extra ammo mechanic. This includes weapons such as revolvers and shotguns.
You'll also need to patch your weapons so they don't drop ammo with BitCh_CantDropAmmo. For example, reloading the Gatling Laser with 400 rounds left will cause it to drop 400 Fusion Cores at your feet.
If a weapon lacks TR support but you still want to use the additional ammo mechanics while in TR mode, then you can add the BitCh_ForceBitChReload keyword to the weapon.
Ammo Check also has a special keyword that you can add to any FOMOD or weapon to make it return an exact value for the ammo in the magazine rather than an estimate. Just add the keyword BitCh_ExactCheckCapability.
Required and Recommended Mods
Required:
F4SE - Everything is scripted, so F4SE is required.
MCM - All customization is done through the mod configuration menu.
Recommended modules:
TR - Not required, but recommended. The extra bullet mechanic is designed to work seamlessly with the Tactical Reload. The mod also features scripted TR detection, so there are no dependencies on plugins.
Ammo Box to Magazine - Works well with the ammo drop feature so you're throwing actual magazines instead of regular ammo boxes.
Bullet Count Reload (BCR) - Make sure BCR mode is enabled in MCM to fix some BCR bugs.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
