Version 2.1 updated on February 21, 2026:
ESL mark! Fixed an issue where sword blades would not spawn in the safe at game start. In an existing game, use the console commands from the home page.
Updated on November 29th:
Version 2.0
Zip the file and resave it as esl tagged esp. The files are still in bulk format.
Hugely increased base damage because the original melee damage value was so stupid.

Are you disappointed that the "Legendary" reward at the end of Pickman's Gallery is just a generic combat knife with terrible stats? Me too!
This mod is completely self-contained and has no requirements other than the base game.
unique model
Unique textures based on Pickman artwork
Unique name (I'm quite proud of this)
Increase damage
No upgrades required; it has the legendary damage effect of stacking bleed, and is already (far) superior to combat knives with upgraded blades.
Suitable for back gun system
Also fixed a silly vanilla bug in the bleed effect (see post for details)
This is the bulk format because everyone is ready to be stuffed with various BA2 files in mid-2024. Too bad it's not .esl because I intercepted a vanilla task and xEdit slapped me for trying.
If you like what you see, give me a solid hit on the "endorse" button, eh?
Usage: (Read it and you’re done)
This will work best in new games. Made in Bethesda is such that in existing games, the original knife may already be in the safe; but take a look below!
If you've already done the job, or PICKMAN'S SAFE has the original knife, or you're just feeling lazy,
Here's how to generate a weapon step-by-step:
Note that you can copy and paste all of the "code" commands below, but remember to replace the XX with the number you find!
Click the tilde, tilde, and backtick below the ESC key to open the console
In the console, type
help brushstroke 4 WEAP
You should only get one result. This number will be
XX000F9A, where XX is different for everyone.
Please check carefully! The letter B can look like the number 8, and so on,
Then enter where X is
player.additem XX000F9A
Of course, the two unique numbers you just discovered.
great! The base version of Brushstoke is now in your inventory - but it's not the legendary version.
Now let's solve this problem.
Go to a flat, open area and place Brushstroke on the ground.
Aim the knife and hold down the "E" key (or the interaction key you set).
You should now be holding it in the air.
Open the console again and type
GetPlayerGrabbedRef
and press ENTER. (Case doesn't matter in the console, but it's easier to see this way.
This will give you the FormID of the weapon you are holding.
Still in the console, type
XXXXXX.amod 1E7C20,
Where X is of course the FormID you just discovered.
Done! You now have the legendary effect, which will spawn in Pickman's safe if Beth doesn't insist on doing something stupid.
This is an update and replacement for my previous Unique Edition Pickman mod, which was based on Mike Moore's Bowie Knife. Bowie Knife is no longer required as a front (but it's still a really cool mod, check it out).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
