Version 1.7
Fixed some parts not working properly in version 163 (untested).
"Fallout 4" is equipped with XAudio2 2.7, which is a legacy audio library from 2010. This version is plagued by a long-standing problem:
Switching audio devices requires a full game restart. Plug in headphones mid-game? There is no sound until you quit and restart.
The plugin replaces the entire audio engine at the binary level, redirecting every XAudio2 call to the modern 2.9 engine built into Windows. Effects have been patched to ensure compatibility. Written in C++. Game files will not be modified.
Additionally, 2.9's internal pipeline is more efficient than 2.7, and the GetState poll loop now skips unnecessary sample counting to reduce CPU overhead.

163/Next Generation/Anniversary. For vanilla users, your F4SE logs may show that the plugin is not loaded or is missing version information. That's superficial. The plugin works fine. You can ignore it.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
