The following two prerequisites are not necessary, but it is still recommended to use them together to prevent the problem of the big head or head equipment wearing the mold after use.

Compatibility and additional instructions:

This mod uses script injection to add new NPCs to vanilla NPCLL lists, which means it should be compatible with any other mods that edit these lists, as long as they don't fundamentally change how these lists are set up.

For example, a mod like "More Generic NPC Faces" simply adds new NPC presets to the vanilla list without changing the way the list's "generation logic" works. These types of mods are fully compatible with this plugin, and the new NPCs it adds will spawn alongside the prototypes as well as the vanilla NPCs.

On the other hand, mods like Better Settlers add their own new lists to replace the original ones; these mods are incompatible and can cause all kinds of problems (such as all NPCs being Argonians, or no Argonian NPCs at all).

This mod should be safe to install if you already have a save file. Already spawned generic NPCs will keep whatever race they are currently using, but new NPCs should be able to spawn as the Argonian race from the moment the mod is installed and the LL Injection message is displayed.

However, the disadvantage of script injection is that once the mod is used, it cannot be restored to its original state before installation. Therefore, uninstalling this mod mid-game after already using it is not supported. Our team is here to collect vaccinations. (Or use the new file directly, which is the safest way)

New NPCs were added to the vanilla "face" level lists, which were for appearance only and were separate from the actual lists that determined attributes/levels/gear. Hence, other mods that edit raider/gunner/settler/predator stats, weapons, clothing, etc. Should be compatible.

The number of new Argonian NPCs is limited, and most common NPCs should remain humans (or other races). Using other mods to add more NPCs to the face list will also result in a lower chance of Argonian NPCs being spawned. This was planned from the beginning, because Argonians shouldn't spawn everywhere, but only in small amounts on the big map.

The mod contains a RobCo Patcher configuration file that will remove certain items from the vanilla Raider and FH Trapper headgear tiered lists, most notably the sack hood and Assault gas mask.

The way clothing and items were distributed in the original game made it impossible to add new NPCs to a vanilla faction with different clothing/gear than the original NPCs. There are no Argonian-compatible mods for these items (and probably never will be), and IMO they're not reliable to begin with anyway, so the only way to prevent them from spawning on Argonians is to remove them from the entire faction.

Any mods that edit raider or gunner outfits (such as Gunner Armor Expansion or That's Gunner Life) should still work, and Argonian NPCs will spawn with these new items, but any masked headgear will most likely have mold wear or deformation when worn. Manual patching is required to fit the faces of Argonian NPCs, or to prevent faction members from spawning with these items.

Argonian heads do not "split" properly when decapitated; the hair and horns separate normally and fall off as scripted, but the head mesh itself remains attached to the body, meaning that if you decapitate or headshot an …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
