Role control dynamics
Health bar and character information
Character information floating directly above NPCs and enemies in Fallout 4
The function of this module
Character Widgets add dynamic floating widgets above characters in Fallout 4, providing information directly about enemies, companions, settlers, and other NPCs in the game world.
Important actor information no longer relies solely on the standard HUD, but is displayed directly above the character.
Each widget can display health, action points, level, damage resistance, type resistance, and special character indicators while dynamically following the character on the screen.
The goal is to provide useful combat and actor information while keeping the interface clean, responsive, and naturally integrated into Fallout 4.
Function
Dynamic actor widget
Floating widgets follow NPCs and creatures directly in the game world.
Health points and action points
Shows health and optional action points above the character.
role information
Optionally displays name, level, damage resistance, and type resistance.
By default, detailed combat information is tied to the Alertness talent, which matches the behavior of the original Fallout 4 and allows you to view enemy levels and resistances in VATS. This requirement can be changed via MCM.
Legendary Characters and Boss Instructions
Device: Legendary characters and important enemies can be directly identified through widgets.
Independent enemy and friendly settings
Friend or foe NPC widgets are individually configurable, including always visible, combat only, ischemia only, and iron sights only.
wall occlusion independent
Select whether enemy and friendly widgets remain visible through walls.
MCM configuration
Control the visualization of controls, character information and display behavior directly in the game.
Role information
Depending on your configuration, Actor Widgets can display:
Name
The actor's current display name.
current
Actor level.
healthy
Status Current health is represented by a floating health bar.
action point
Current AP information (if applicable).
Damage Resistance:
The actor's current physical resistances.
energy resistance
Resistance of electrical current to energy damage.
radiation resistance
Current radiation impedance.
Extra resistance provided by Fallout 4

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
