The INI mod changes many aspects of the game, most notably weapons, enemies, and armor.
*Note: This mod requires the "Armor Stats Customiser" mod to apply changes to armor, which can be found here:
Introduction
This mod consists of many INI adjustments that greatly change the gameplay. It's mostly an overhaul of weapons and armor to strengthen their characters, make them more diverse, and make them useful throughout the lower tiers of the game. It also changes the enemy's stats to be in balance with the stat changes.
EDIT: As one can understand, the mod may not be 100% balanced. I prioritize making combat more interesting than anything else. Balance is not a priority, but I do try to preserve it. Constructive criticism in this regard is appreciated.
Weapon overhaul
Layer changes
-Tier 1 (Conventional Weapons): Deals more raw damage than any other tier.
- Tier 2 (Magnetic Weapons): Now shreds some enemy armor, but does less damage.
- Tier 3 (Beam Weapons): Completely ignores enemy armor, but does significantly less damage.
Weapon class changes
-Assault Rifles: They are still multi-purpose weapons. Their overall damage has been increased.
-Shotguns: [Feedback Needed] Shotguns are now in an admittedly unfamiliar place. They deal very little damage (equivalent to a pistol) and have a -20 target penalty. However, they have a higher critical hit chance and deal significant critical damage. They are very effective against flanking enemies. I've played with these variations and like them, but let me know what you think.
-Cannons: Cannons now deal massive damage and have the maximum clip size of all weapons (increased to 6, up from the vanilla game's value of 3). However, they have a -5 target penalty and deal no extra damage on critical hits. These changes strengthen the inhibitory effect of their weapons.
-Sniper Rifle: The sniper rifle deals extreme damage and gains an amazing +50 target bonus. Having to reload after each shot makes them slower (without the perk, they can only be shot every turn.) They are now very effective at damaging enemies behind cover. They can only critically hit by using the Shadowstrike ability.
- Sword: Level 1 Sword - Highest damage. Tier 2 - Very low damage, but 100% stun. - Tier 3 - Moderate damage, keeps chance of burning.
- Grenade Launcher: The base grenade launcher's range bonus has been reduced to 3 (down from 4), and its radius bonus has been increased to 3 (from 1). The Advanced Grenade Launcher has been renamed "Longbow Launcher", its range bonus increased to 12 (from 5), but its radius bonus reduced to 0 (down from 2)
-Pistols: Pistols now deal more critical damage. Their levels function the same as the main weapons (Damage, Shred, Pierce).
-GREMLINS: Tier 1 - Offers higher hacking rewards, but poor offensive capabilities. Tier 2 - A mix of hacking bonuses and offense. Tier 3 - Offers a lot of offense, but no hacking bonuses.
-PSI Amps: Tier 1 - Amps have a range of damage, so PSI skills can cause light, moderate or severe damage. Tier 2 - Amplifiers have no damage range, meaning PSI abilities consistently and reliably deal moderate damage. Tier 3 - The Amplifier has a large damage range, meaning it can be pathetically weak or extremely damaging.
- Grenades: Grenades now deal more damage. All grenades (except fragmentation and acid) no longer fragment
- Heavy Weapons: All heavy weapons now deal more damage. Exploding and shredding heavy weapons shredded more armor.
ARMOR overhaul
-Kevlar Armor: +4 health, utility slots
-Predator Armor: +4 health, +2 armor, utility slot, -1 mobility
- Spider Suit: +2 Health, +33% Dodge, +2 Mobility
-EXO Set: +4 health, +4 armor, -2 agility
-Warden Armor: +2 Health, +20 General, +20 PSI, Control Immunity, Utility Slot
-Wraith Armor: +0 health, utility slot, +2 mobility, +15 defense, +15% dodge
-WAR Set: +4 health, health regeneration, immunity to fire+poison+acid, -2 mobility
ENEMY / DIFFICULTY TWEAKS
- The following changes apply to all difficultie …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
