Restored target/crit/dodge to separate rolls, like in XCOM: EU/EW
Divide dice rolls into hits, critical hits, and dodges.
Gone are the days of troops having 100% critical hit against people in heavy cover + aid protocol, because in XCOM 2, hit, critical hit and dodge share the same dice, so if the critical hit chance is higher than the hit chance, as long as the target can't dodge, it will always crit, because the dodge dice is calculated based on dodge attribute * hit chance, so dodge is less affected.
In short: by default, 10% hitting and 10% critical means 10% of hits will critical, 0% will hit normally, and 90% will miss.
Using this mode, 10% hit and 10% critical hit means 1% of the hits will be critical hits, 9% of the hits will be normal hits, and the hit rate is 90%.
Following the default behavior of this mode, rolling a critical hit will not roll into a dodge, which is customizable in the ini configuration. Enabling Hybrid Critical Dodge will replace critical hits and dodges, resulting in a normal hit if both are successful.
WARNING: As with any XCOM 2 mod, saving the game with the mod enabled will cause the saved game to only work with the mod enabled, as this is a tweak mod using an existing template, content should not be lost after disabling the mod, so now if you decide to disable the mod
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
