About this mod Machine translation
It gives each soldier one ammo and one vest slot.
Add to:
- Extra Ammo slot (can be disabled from ini)
- Extra utility slots (can be disabled/number can be increased via ini. Not available for SPARK.)
- XCOM shirt item awarded +5 will be rewarded to the user (the bonus can be changed/can be disabled via ini)
- Building experimental armor now requires building a nanofiber vest (can be disabled via ini)
My motivation for doing this mod was that I finished the game as a legend/triathlon and it turns out I literally didn't use a single ammo and vest item the entire game. Since I think they are very good items, I wanted to create a mod that would allow me to use them even more.
Strategy game balance will be adjusted slightly, as the Nanofiber Vest has been made a requirement for experimental armor (as it is more expensive and has greater impact).
Tactical game balance has not been fully adjusted yet, extra slots will make combat easier, so it is recommended that if you want to have a more balanced experience, install a mod that directly increases the difficulty of Tactics game, ie. Increase enemy team size, etc.
MOD recommendation:
High quality rounds, added early game ammo so you have something to add to those slots
Conflict:
- Number of practical items (completely unusable)
- LW Toolbox (minor, disables direct squad selection of item equipment).
- LW Leader Pack (minor, disables direct squad select item gear) has higher loadout than AVS!
- Make weapons available (minor/major, depending on load order. New bar weapon button is not shown if ammo and vest slots are loaded on UIArmory, ammo and vest slots are otherwise disabled.)
- Playable Advent (the main, two-override UIarmory, might be solvable if you load the Playable Advent first, then Ammo and Vest Slots, but it will cause you problems when equipping the Advent troops in the army).
Coverage:
- UIUtilities_Strategy
- UIArmory_Loadout
- UISquadSelect_UtilityItem
- UISquadSelect_ListItem
Configurable from XComAmmoAndVestSlotsV2.ini (found in the mod installation folder):
- Adjust the number of additional utility slots by adjusting NUM_UTILITY_SLOTS. Default is 1. More than 5 has not been tested.
- Disabled Nanofiber Vest build requirements. Change the line ExperimentalVestReq = 1 to ExperimentalVestReq = 0
- Remove specific ammo slots by changing HAS_AMMO_POCKET from 1 to 0. - Removed an extra utility slot shown in squad select by changing HAS_VEST_SLOT from 1 to 0.
- After removing the old vest item, you can now remove the deprecated vest item button by changing SHOW_VEST_BTN from 1 to 0.
- Choose icon color from available options in ini. Check the ini for available options.
- Removed XCOM T-shirts.
- Added fake vest slot icon for people who don't want to use t-shirt.
Known errors:
- Utility items will change position when replaced in inventory, except for the first slot.
- After v3.02, sometimes units from your older devices will not have extra utility slots. This should be fixed after switching armors.
This mod wouldn't be complete without all the examples and code snippets in the forums and reddits. Thanks to everyone who shared information. :)

Vest item not working properly?
- Make sure you remove the item from your inventory and put it back after the v2.2 update.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
