About this mod Author’s original text
Steelhammer Smart Hotbar
A lightweight client-side Valheim mod that lets you switch through hotbar slots 1-8 with the mouse wheel without breaking Valheim's building controls.
Features
- Scroll the mouse wheel to switch between hotbar slots 1-8.
- Automatically stops hotbar scrolling while building.
- The mouse wheel remains available for normal building-piece rotation.
- Hold Left Ctrl to leave the mouse wheel available for Valheim's normal camera zoom.
- Optional wrap-around between slot 1 and slot 8.
- Configurable scroll direction.
- Configurable scroll delay.
- Client-side only.
- No server installation required.
- Other players do not need the mod.
Why?
Normal mouse-wheel hotbar mods can interfere with Valheim's building system because the same wheel is used to rotate building pieces.
Steelhammer Smart Hotbar detects the building context and automatically leaves the mouse wheel to Valheim whenever it is needed for construction.
Default configuration
General
Enabled = true

Hotbar
InvertScrollDirection = false

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
