About the Mod
Forsaken Power Overhaul completely rebalances Valheim's guardian powers into a multi-tiered, rewarding progression system. Instead of merely having a situational active ability on a long cooldown, each Forsaken Power provides four distinct components:
- Passive Component: Permanent baseline buffs granted to the player as soon as that boss's trophy is offered at the Sacrificial Stones (e.g. Eikthyr grants permanent stamina).
- Equipped Passive Component: Additional buffs granted while that specific power is equipped (e.g. extra jump height while Eikthyr is equipped).
- Active Component: Potent temporary buffs granted when you activate the power with F.
Shared Active Component: Secondary buffs granted while any* power is active, encouraging synergy and strategic stacking.
- Power Cycling: No need to run back to the Sacrificial Stones to change your equipped power. Press the cycle key (default: G) to rotate through all your currently unlocked powers on the fly.
- World Progression: Access to powers and passive bonuses is tied to your world's boss progression. Hanging trophies at the Sacrificial Stones unlocks them automatically.
What Changed for Valheim 1.0 (v2.2.0)
This port addresses the breaking engine and API changes introduced in Valheim 1.0:
- ZoneSystem Singleton Migration: Replaced all calls to the deprecated ZoneSystem.m_instance field with the new ZoneSystem.instance property getter.
- Ashlands / Fader Support: Integrated Valheim 1.0's Fader guardian power (GP_Ashlands), ensuring passive, equipped, and active powers function across all 7 bosses (Eikthyr, The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Queen, and Fader).
- Trinket Slot Integration: Added support for Valheim 1.0's new Trinket equipment slot (m_trinketItem) in equipment movement modifier calculations.
- Adrenaline Mechanic: Updated guardian power activation to support Valheim 1.0's adrenaline boost (AddAdrenaline) upon activation.
- Harmony Overload Disambiguation: Explicitly typed patch target signatures on overloaded Player methods (SetMaxHealth, SetMaxStamina, SetMaxEitr, OnSpawned) to prevent runtime AmbiguousMatchException crashes.
- Equipment Modifiers Return Value Fix: Corrected Harmony postfix return values (ref float __result) for equipment movement and heat resistance modifiers so external systems receive the properly modified values.
- Null Safety Hardening: Added safety checks for ItemStand hover text and ObjectDB status effect icon resolutions to eliminate null reference exceptions during world load.
- Modernized Build Configuration: Rebuilt on.NET Framework 4.8 targeting Jotunn 2.30.0 and BepInEx 5.4.2350 with publicized game assemblies.
Requirements
- Valheim 1.0 (tested on version 1.0.7+)
- BepInExPack Valheim (denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim-5.4.2350 or newer)
- Jotunn, the Valheim Library (ValheimModding-Jotunn-2.30.0 or newer)
Installation
Recommended (Mod Manager):
- Install Mod Manager or r2modman with one click.
- The mod manager will automatically install BepInEx and Jotunn as required dependencies.
Manual Installation:
- Ensure BepInExPack Valheim and Jotunn are installed.
- Download the release.zip.
- Extract the contents into your Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/ folder (e.g. Valheim/BepInEx/plugins/ForsakenPowerOverhaul).
- Launch the game.
Configuration & Presets
- Configuration file: BepInEx/config/Ju
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
