Flip It
Free placement rotation for Valheim building. Tilt, roll, and mount pieces on walls, ceilings, slopes, dirt, and roofs.
Valheim 1.0 compatible (Unity 6 / BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350).
Flip It is an independent, lightweight placement mod. It uses the same standard Valheim Harmony patch pattern as other rotation mods, but is not affiliated with ValheimPlus or PerfectPlacement.

Controls
- Scroll wheel — rotate on Y (vanilla, 22.5° per step)
- Shift + scroll — pitch (X axis)
- Ctrl + scroll — roll (Z axis)
- J — reset current piece to vanilla upright orientation (rebindable)
Vanilla placement stays normal until you intentionally tilt with Shift or Ctrl.
Features
- Full 3-axis ghost rotation while placing hammer pieces
- Surface attach for non-build pieces only (portals, furniture, etc.) after tilting
- Hammer Build and Heavy Build pieces: tilt + vanilla snap only (no surface-attach override)
- Reset key (default J) returns the current piece to vanilla orientation
- Client-side only; requires BepInExPack Valheim 5.4.2350+ for Valheim 1.0
Config
BepInEx/config/hardwire99.flipit.cfg
- RotationStepDegrees — pitch/roll step when not matching vanilla (default 22.5; use 90 for quarter turns)
- MatchVanillaYawStep — use vanilla 22.5° steps for Shift/Ctrl (default true; set false to use RotationStepDegrees)
- AllowAnySurface — after tilting, place non-build pieces on walls/ceilings/slopes (default true; never on Build / Heavy Build)
- AlignToSurface — after tilting, align non-build pieces to walls/ceilings (default true; never on Build / Heavy Build)
- SuppressSnapWhileRotating — skip snap while Shift/Ctrl held during rotation (default true)
- ResetRotationKey — key to reset current piece orientation (default J)
- DebugLogging — log rotation changes to BepInEx
Notes
- Client-side only
- Still respects no-build zones, private areas, and biome restrictions
- Hammer Build and Heavy Build pieces keep vanilla snap after tilt
- Works best on rotatable hammer pieces
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
