BuildGrid
A grid drawn on the ground for building and terraforming. Global, aligned to the world, or local, aligned to the piece you are looking at. One key to cycle. Client-side.

BuildGrid
A grid drawn on the ground, so you can see where things line up before you commit.
Two grids, one key.
- Global. Locked to the world. The lines sit on fixed world coordinates and never drift as you
walk, and they drape over the terrain so a bump reads as a bump. This is the one for levelling
ground with the hoe: you can see exactly which patches are high and which are low.
- Local. Locked to a piece. Look at any floor or wall you have placed and the grid snaps to its
position and rotation, flat at its height. This is the one for extending a build and keeping it
square.
Works in multiplayer, nothing installed on the server or anyone else's game. Only you see it.
Usage
Press Y to cycle: off, global, local, off.
In local mode, look at a piece you placed and the grid jumps to it. Look away and it stays where it
was until you look at another piece, so you can turn around and place things against it.
Settings
Press F1 in game to open Configuration Manager, then look for BuildGrid.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Cycle hotkey | Y | The key that cycles the modes. |
| Mode on load | Off | Which grid is showing every time you enter a world. |
| Radius | 16 | How far the grid reaches from you, in metres. |
| Global spacing | 1 | Metres between global lines. A floor tile is 2. |
| Global grid follows terrain | On | Drape over the ground, or draw flat at your feet. |
| Local spacing | 1 | Metres between local lines. |
| Local offset | 1, 1 | Shifts the local grid within its cell. Half a tile puts lines on tile edges. |
| Line width | 0.02 | Thickness of the lines, in metres. |
| Height above ground | 0.1 | How far the lines float above the surface. |
| Major line every | 2 | Every second line gets the major colour, for counting. |
| Global colour, Local colour, Major line colour | | Pick your own. |
Everything applies live except the hotkey and the mode on load.
Compatibility
Built for the Deep North update. Client-side only, so it does not care what the server runs and it
will not get you kicked by mod checks that compare plugin lists.
Draws with the same technique as Easy Relocate's rings and connector line, so if that shows up for
you, this will too.
Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
