ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
🎵 Aicho Custom Audio 🎵
Replace Valheim's music, sound effects, ambience and weather sounds with your own, no coding needed: just create folders and drop your files inside. Made from scratch, inspired by Aedenthorn's classic Custom Audio, and compatible with its same folders.
It includes tools to build your sounds in-game: a detector that tells you the name of every sound, a catalog of every sound in the game, listening and volume/frequency tuning from the console, reloading without restarting, and new sounds for the map, the chat and equipping weapons.

🧩 How to use 🧩
The basic idea
The first time you start the game, the mod creates a CustomAudio folder next to its.dll file, with 3 folders inside: Music, SFX and Ambient.
The folder name is the name of the game sound, and the files you put inside are your sounds. If there are several, a random one plays each time.
| Example 📁 | Result |
|:-:|:-:|
| CustomAudio/SFX/sfx_tree_hit/ with your files inside | Changes the tree hit sound |
| CustomAudio/Music/meadows/ with your songs | Changes the Meadows music |
| CustomAudio/Ambient/Forest_day/ with your sounds | Changes the forest's daytime sounds (birds, branches...) |
- Supported formats:.wav,.ogg and.mp3.
- An empty folder keeps the original game sound.
How do I find the name of each sound?
Open the console with F5:
| Command ⌨️ | Action |
|:-:|:-:|
| customaudio detector | Every sound playing nearby shows up in the console with its folder name. Do the action (hit, walk, open a door...) and copy the name. Turn it off with customaudio detector off. |
| customaudio catalog | Creates CustomAudio_Catalog.txt next to the.dll with every sound in the game, sorted into sections (Player, Weapons, Animals, Enemies, Bosses...) with a description of each one. Use it inside a world. |
| customaudio play name vanilla | Plays the original sound so you know which one it is. Press Tab to autocomplete names. |
What you can change
| Folder 📁 | What it changes |
|:-:|:-:|
| SFX/ effect_name / | A sound effect: hits, footsteps, creatures, weapons, interface... |
| Loose file in SFX/ with the same name as the original file | Only that specific file. Great for footsteps, which sound different on each surface. |
| Folder starting with _ (e.g. SFX/_footsteps) | Just for organizing: its files work exactly like loose files. |
| Music/ list / (menu, meadows, blackforest, home, combat, boss_eikthyr...) | The music for that place or moment. |
| Music/ Weather + Morning, Day, Evening or Night / | Music for a specific weather and time of day (e.g. ClearNight). |
| Ambient/ Biome, Biome _day or Biome _night/ | The biome's ambient sounds (any time, daytime or night). |
| Ambient/ Weather _loop/ | The continuous background of a weather: rain, thunderstorm, snowstorm, fog... (e.g. Rain_loop) |
| SFX/groundtorch, walltorch, fire_pit, bonfire, hearth, portal | The loops of torches, campfires, hearth and portal. |
| Ambient/ocean and Ambient/wind | The ocean and wind sounds. |
New sounds (that the game doesn't have)
| Folder 📁 | When it plays |
|:-:|:-:|
| SFX/_map_open/ | When opening the map |
| SFX/_map_closed/ | When closing the map (if it doesn't exist, the opening one is used) |
| SFX/_chat_open/ | When opening the chat with Enter |
| SFX/_chat_send/ | When sending a message |
| SFX/_chat_closed/ | When closing the chat without sending |
| SFX/_equip_ type / | When equipping a type of item: sword, axe, battleaxe, club, sledge, knife, spear, atgeir, bow, crossbow, staff, pickaxe, fist, shield, torch, tool, helmet, chest, legs, cape, utility, trinket, ammo |
| SFX/_equip_ Item / | When equipping a specific item (e.g. _equip_SwordIron). It takes priority over the type. |
| SFX/_unequip_ type or Item / | When putting away the weapon or item |
Volume and frequency: settings.txt
You can put a settings.txt file inside any folder:
volume = 1.5
frequency = 0.5

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file. In multiplayer, the host and every client need the same mods installed.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
