introduce

UE Viewer is a file resource viewer made for use with Unreal Engine.

Currently supports all Unreal Engine versions of Unreal (1-4)

This project was first called "Unreal model viewer". Later, due to the request of Epic Games, the project was renamed "umodel" in 2011.

(This single origin comes from the old name "**U**nreal **MODEL** viewer").

Because “Epic Games” registered the trademark “Unreal”

Command line code

attention! The site has some tutorial videos and FAQs. It can be useful (especially for beginners) to watch them before starting to use UE Viewer. The link is at the top of this page. For simplicity, below the UE viewer is called "umodel" (which is the executable file name).

Command line format:

```
umodel [options] package-name [object-name]
```

**Main Options**

| View options | (viewer options) |

| ------------ | ------------ |

| -meshes | Exclude non-mesh objects from browsing in viewer mode |

| Export options | (exporter options) |

| ------------ | ------------ |

| -export | Start umodel in export mode |

| -out=path | Set export directory |

| -dds | Export textures as DDS |

| -uncook | UE3: umodel will export the file to the directory corresponding to its package name |

| -groups | Instead of using the object type (SkeletalMesh, Texture2D, etc.) as the export directory name, use the object's group name |

| -sounds | Allow exporting sounds |

| -3rdparty | Allow ScaleForm and FaceFX export |

| Common options |(common options)|

| ------------ | ------------ |

| -path=path | Set the game file path; when there are spaces in the path, you should enclose the path in double quotes, |

| -noanim/-nomesh/-nostat/-notex | Disable loading of animations/skeletal meshes/static meshes/textures (may be necessary because umodel is not compatible with certain games) |

| -game=game | Tells umodel that the file being opened belongs to a specific game; this may be needed when umodel cannot detect the game on its own; To get a list of available game tags, start umodel with the -taglist option |

| -pkg=package | Load additional packages (you can specify any number of -pkg=... options) |

| -ios/-ps3 | Tell umodel that you are opening a file made for the iOS or PS3 platform (all other platforms are automatically detected) |

For a complete list of options, start umodel without arguments.

All options are independent of the order. The package name is the full name or abbreviation of the package. Using short names usually requires the -path=... option. Check out the example below to illustrate.

**Sample Code**

```
// Display all packaged objects from HumanMaleA
umodel -path=c:/games/ut2004 HumanMaleA
// Show all meshes from HumanMaleA
umodel -path=c:/games/ut2004 -meshes HumanMaleA
// Display the mesh from the HumanMaleA package MercMaleD
umodel -path=c:/games/ut2004 Hu …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
