About this mod Machine translation

High-performance Reshade/SweetFX Preset enables realistic sunlight and lighting effects. In general, greatly improved fire colors and more realistic colors. Works with latest version of STLM. The main purpose is to improve the realism of the lighting, not to make it cinematic.

  • Sunlight has been greatly improved and looks like a real sunny day, looking very accurate using HDR.
  • Shadows have been rebalanced for the most realistic look.
  • Fire colors have been improved to make them more realistic and less washed with yellow.
  • Colors have been adjusted for more of an E3 2014 look and a more realistic effect due to being a bit desaturated. Removed the yellow-green, washing out everything in the vanilla game, even the STLM (at least on my screen).
  • Specifically used for STLM (Super Turbo Lighting Mod). It is changed by ENHANCE STLM instead.
  • Get amazing AA effects using SMAA, which is better than the game's built-in AA with only 1 FPS performance drop.
  • Also darkens the night for better soaking. So beautiful days and darker nights = more reality. :)
  • The trade-off is extra glare from the sky and clouds, but that's realistic because when you look at the sky IRL on a sunny day, it emits a lot of glare that our eyes can't stand, so think of it as analog.

Activated features:

  • SMAA (Medium Performance Cost - 1 to 1.5 FPS max) 2. HDR (

Heavy performance cost - 2 to 3 FPS max

)

  • Technicolor 2 (low performance cost ~ 0.5 FPS max) 4. Hue (no performance cost, absolutely zero)
  • Curve (no performance cost, absolute zero)

Total performance cost = 3 to 4 FPS max

On my rig I usually get a 3 to 4 FPS drop.

Install:

Just place the Preset file under the ReShade/SweetFX folder:

DIR:\.... \ steam \ steamapps \ common \ The Witcher 3 \ bin \ x64 \ SweetFX

and replace your current 'SweetFX_settings' file. If something goes wrong, I highly recommend backing up the original version.

In Game: Turn off AA and Vignetting under Post Processing and keep Gamma around 60% to 75%, depending on your screen. My screen has a lot of contrast, so I keep the gamma around 70%.

PRESET TWEING:

If you want to reduce the brightness of the sun, lower the HDR setting "#define radius2" from 0.90 to 0.88. If reduced further, it will lose its desired effect. If you want MOAR sunlight, turn it up to 0.92, but I wouldn't recommend going beyond that.

If you are using your own AA injections outside of the game, turn off SMAA by setting the value to 0. You can also turn it off if you want to get 1 more FPS. :)

If you want lower contrast, you can set Curves to 0 or reduce the value.

If you need any help adjusting the presets to your specific monitor's color or contrast, please ask me in the comments section. :)

SCREENSHOTS:

I've added a lot of comparison screenshots, I recommend you go to the 'Images' tab and look at their names to get the context, like 'On/Off', 'Exterior/Internal' or 'Morning/Noon/Evening/Night' etc. I've also added a lot of images to compare the 'fire' colors and some 'extra' random images with the mod. Don't forget to check out the new Velen screenshots which have been added upon request! :) Lots of new screenshots after setting up the image.

New screenshot added -

Oxenfurt

Velen

Novigrad Wilderness

Novigrad City

Find these screenshots at the end of the list.

I would also like to add that the screenshots, while representative of what you will see, don't do full justice to the enhancements added by this preset. I highly recommend giving the game a try before deciding if you like it. :)

CHANGELOG:

  • Change the curve value from 0.25 to 0.34.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
