Fixed compilation issues when launching the game with scripted mods.

About this mod Machine translation

Fixed compilation issues when launching the game with scripted mods.

There's a critical bug in "The Witcher 3" that breaks the game even with a script mod installed. Using the following method, you can actually launch the game with a scripted mod.

Install

Extract ScriptCompileFix.7z into The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\Mods folder. You can find this folder where the game is installed. If you don't have a Mods folder, create it.

Copy the Mods.settings file to the Documents\The Witcher 3 folder.

You must insert a record for each mod you want to use in this Mods.settings file. You can use any text editor.

Example

This is the original Mods.settings file:

[modBaseScripts]

Enabled = 1

Priority = 9999

[<insert next mod name here>]

Enabled = 1

Priority = 9998

Let's say you want to use a mod that makes Geralt look like Batman (this mod goes into the following folder: Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\Mods\modMakeGeraltLookLikeBatman).

Then you have to modify the Mods.settings file as follows:

[modBaseScripts]

Enabled = 1

Priority = 9999

[modMakeGeraltLookLikeBatman]

Enabled = 1

Priority = 9998

If you want to use more mods, append their data to the end of the Mods.settings file. What's important is that modBaseScripts has the lowest priority (highest number), so it will be loaded last. The lower the priority, the earlier the mod is loaded in the game.

uninstall

Delete the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\Mods\modBaseScripts folder and everything you added to the Documents\The Witcher 3\Mods.settings file.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
