About this mod Machine translation

This mod applies minimum and maximum damage thresholds to the attacks of each enemy variant of each attack type.

This mod implements minimum and maximum damage thresholds for enemy attacks. These thresholds are calculated as a percentage of your maximum health. Each attack type has different minimum and maximum damage values: light attack, heavy attack, super attack, and ranged attack. Enemies are divided into 6 categories:

The weakest (eg: Nikkor, Wolf and Dog)

Weakness (e.g. siren, harp, drowning man, peasant, and thug)

Average (for example: ghost, ghoul, carousel, haze, soldier, deserter)

Strong (for example: Alps and Brusa, Spiders, Bears, Werewolves, Vampires, Trolls, Winvers, Algiers, Officers, and Two-Handed Weapons)

Elites (e.g.: Good Samaritans, Hobgoblins, Alachas, Greater Vampires and Trolls, Hobgoblins, Demons, Cyclops, Nyxes and Nyxes, Basilisks, Graveshamans, Boss Bandits, Wizards)

Boss (e.g. Cloud Giant, Big Bad Wolf, Spotted Wig, Toad Prince, Iris, Armored Alachas, Ice Giant, Chorus, Great Griffon, Ancient Leshan)

The main goal of the mod is to enforce damage minimization so that late-game combat doesn't become trivial when the player has extremely high resistance to damage. The minimum and maximum values are different between different enemies, forming the difference between the weak and the strong.

Mods don't actually change the base damage calculation. Instead, it enforces these minimum and maximum values after all other damage adjustments have occurred and before damage is applied to the player or hits the shield.

Each time a threshold is calculated, a small amount of randomization is applied to it, so you won't see a static damage value when the minimum or maximum threshold is reached.

This isn't a "hardcore" difficulty mode, but it will make the game harder. No matter how healthy you are and how resistant you are to damage, you can't reduce damage below a certain minimum. Increasing your health and damage resistance is still valuable, as it makes you more likely to take minimal damage from enemies. However, this minimum is usually much higher than what was possible in the original game.

One side effect of this mode is that "lethal" enemies (red skulls) will no longer deal extreme damage, often to the point of killing the player in a single hit. Their damage will be subject to the same maximum as your enemies closer to your level. Instead, they will probably always deal the maximum allowed damage due to the high damage increase taken.

This model is completely script based, just add one part at the end of the damage calculation. It may be compatible with any other mod as long as the script is merged (if necessary).

If you don't have the modified version of Kun, you might like to use this version. My version offers 8 different Quen mechanisms, available at:

Note: This mode does not affect fist combat damage, and "Rat" has been fixed by its own minimum damage set.

Note: To view the damage groups and how to adjust the damage, open the damagemanagerprocessor.ws script in the mod folder and search for [scba]. You'll find the variables first, but not too far below the section where you create groups and define damage thresholds. If you want, you can even edit your version and save it to create your own groups, minimums and maximums.

Install

  • Place the modscba folder into the /mods folder.
  • Run script merge if necessary.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
