About this mod Machine translation

Only by using the correct sword oil can the sword cause damage to the enemy, otherwise it will be unable to damage.

One thing I always missed in Witcher 3, we met in TW1 and to some extent, was introduced in TW3 during one of Ciri's stages. Of course, steel won't hurt a lot of monsters, but with the right oil, and in TW1, it will.

Well if you are really feeling nostalgic and like me you feel like this steel sword should do damage to necrotic if it had some necrotic oil on it or this ghost oil should be put on the steel sword with ghost oil, look no further!

What this mod does:

If used with the appropriate oil, the Steel Sword deals 100% damage to "Essence" monsters (monsters affected by the Silver Sword).

Silver swords do 50% damage against "vitality" monsters (including humans), because you know, humans or wolves aren't exactly resistant to sharp silver objects. Since silver items do more damage than steel, half the damage makes the steel sword still the best sword (and emphasizes that the extra damage to other monsters comes from their weakness to silver)

If used with the proper oil, the Silver Sword will deal 66% damage to Vitality monsters.

Geralt no longer switches weapons when hitting an "Essence" monster with the steel sword, and vice versa.

Unfortunately, to achieve this, this mod must modify the following script:

game/player/r4player.ws - This script tends to be a big offender in many script-based mods, so I'm surprised you don't need to merge it. The changed function is CanApplyOilOnItem. Unless they change this function, there should be very few issues merged with other mods that modify r4player.ws, which is fair, meaning they might do something similar to that mod and you might not want to use them both at the same time.

game/player/playerWeaponHolster.ws - This script should not be modified too much by other mods unless they somehow change the way Geralt reacts to encounters. It affects the GetMostConvenientMeleeWeapon function. Unless similar mods edit the same functionality, merging should be a breeze.

game/gameplay/damageManagerProcessor.ws - Change function ProcessActionDamage. I hope only revamped mods like Ghost Mod or W3EE can affect this feature. In other cases, script merging should be fine.

game/gui/_old/components/guiBaseInventoryComponent.ws - Affects the function SetInventoryFlashObjectForItem. I just want the mod to touch it. Script merging is easy unless the same functionality is changed.

For manual merging, look for WWA, which is the name of the mod I built first before making some of its features standalone. It should make merging a breeze.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
